MX-113 FM antenna?

Take a look at some of the posts at the Tuner Discussion forum on Yahoo.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/fmtuners/

The subject came up yet again in the past two weeks on the forum and had been discussed numerous times there before. May help.

The net of it is, there is no indoor antenna out there that stands head and shoulders above others, including plain old rabbit ears. Comes down to what suits you. Any indoor antenna vendor that makes extrordinary reception claims is not shooting stratight.

Also take a look here too ...

Some to consider are the Magnum and Fanfare whips, the Magnum Silver Ribbon (rabbit ears), some of the Terk amplified antennas, older BIC FM-8 and FM-10 Beam Boxes on eBay, the Godar FM antenna, and rabbit ears from Radio Shack.

Personally, the Godar has worked a little better for me because it is somewhat directional, enabling me to point it ... but it ain't like a good outdoor antenna.

Thanks, Number 9

I'll research the links. Also, could a powered antenna cause line noise? The idea of line noise causes great fear.

Thanks again.

Precisely. If the signal is not there or weak to begin with, the amplifier amplifies noise. I've tried it myself. A waste of money. On local stations, you may overload your tuner too.

An antenna amplifier works best at the head of an outdoor antenna, to send the signal down the line.

Also, all antenna amplifiers are not of the same quality. On the Yahoo forum, someone pointed out some really good professional-quality ones that cost $150 and up. Much better quality than what you will find at R-S.

I forgot to mention the AuidoPrism indoor antenna which is amplified, but it is extremely expensive. One of the members here has one. An outdoor antenna, even of the most basic kind, will still outperform the AudioPrism.
