When I noticed the number of my posts climbing toward 1000, I decided to dedicate a thread to the reaching of this milestone.

I am slightly intimidated by the task of crafting a digital utterance worthy of the occasion. Luckily, this post is only 995, so I have some time to think about it.

...how best to distill my experience here on AK? I have laughed. I have cried. I have learned a lot about the fragility of both human life and electrolytic capacitors.

1000? Thats way too many

:)

1000 posts, you really are a chatterbox aren't you. :D

Congratulations - when you get there.

Thanks!

Now I am at 999! Only one more to go. Shall I pause in this liminal space, on the threshold separating triple and quadruple digits and savor one last moment of ...what? Youth? Innocence? No, those evaporated long ago. The approach of some great wisdom? Gravitas? Ha! I just snorted some coffee out my nose at the thought!

Perhaps the most significant thing to contemplate is how this moment relies on the fact that we count in base 10 rather than base 8, 12, or 16. In octal this would be my 1750th post, while in hexadecimal it would be the much more enigmatic number, 3E8.

Well, the champagne is chilling in the fridge and Coleman Hawkins is rocking the turntable. I suppose it's time to take a shower, shave, and put on my new suit. As the Romans would say, my next post is number M.

You will never, Never, come back to this juncture in your life !

Your next post must be profound. No questions, no drivel.

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say, "We're hanging in suspense."

Ta-daaa ?

Genghis Khan never said "Ta-daaa." Nor, General George Patton.

I panicked! I choked! The pressure was just too much.

...and for the record, I am sure George Patton would not have approved of my favorite armored sound system:
