MY GOD!!!... Once again I kinda over do it.. :D

Keep an eye on the drywall Simi, i've pretty well wrecked it on the first floor here with the basement system. I've got some serious plastering and painting to do before the house goes on the market in the spring.

Yep.. I already had that worry when I realized just how much air movement is behind this, and how much lower they drop than I thought they would.... and I rent... hhhmmm... Guess I'll just have to be easy on the volume. .

As far as the Ashly someone asked, it's not a 2000.. It's a 500..

Takes just a few seconds with a mic, USB interface or sound card, and computer.

+1 Exactly ! I got my set up for around $300 for the Mic,sound card, cable, and stand.Add another $150 for the Woofer tester 2.Software is FREE Holm Impulse.

Great Job Simi !

Thats's my deal though.. I'm not going to invest that kinda cash just for curiosity sake. I'm not worried about tuning everything to be flat. I just want it to sound good to me. The only reason I'd like to do some measuring is just to see how well I got them tuned and what some of the disbursement patterns look like in the room.

BTW, I seem to be paying for lugging that amp around from work to home yesterday.. my back is wrecked today :tears:

Pretty sad when an amp seems to be more than you should be lifting and lugging around..

Oh, and with the volume, I'm gonna have to keep the subs down.. I've already had things vibrate off shelves in the house not realizing I had that much bass as it was.. at least now I'm conscious of it..

lol, wonderful isn't it?
I've always been amazed at the 20-20hz +- 3db claims. Maybe it is all there at 1 watt but who listens to 1 watt. It takes a good 10 watts just to drown out society.

hehehe.. 10w... last night I was pushing that 250wpc all the way up into the red blinkey lights... and it was pretty incredible the way the air in the room felt, and what seemed to be happening to the house..

LOL.... good idea..

My grandfather built that from a tractor axle, and fired it the day I was born. His first grandson... I've let my wife know to fire it the day I'm gone, then pass it to my brothers first son since I have none..

But if your into DIY speaker building it is a must ! If you need to build passive Xo's and things like that were you can't use the active Behringer it will pay for itself as these speaker projects can get expensive quickly if changes have to be made on a regular basis. I know what you mean though as I didn't want to buy the gear I got for my project. But I have this funny feeling that I may have lots of projects in my future ! :D

Did you use T-nuts for the mounting ? I'm wondering if the ports aren't Chuffing, making noise. From what I have been reading, chuffing is more likely with slotted ports than with round ports.I don't know how true that is, but sound is round ! If GM sees this thread I hope he can enlighten us...

Yeah, I used T-nuts, and it's leaking around them. I can see the air moving in and out of the holes with smoke.. It's not the port at all.. the other speaker for some reason isn't leaking around the bolt holes and it's dead quiet.. strange..

And this should be my last speaker build.. at least for a long long time... I've spent a ton on the speakers in my livingroom putting them all together, and my wife sure isn't going to let me go spending that again. Can't blame her either since it's sounding so good..

The gasket is fine.. it's a paper and foam that came with the drivers. I'll either thin rubber grommets, or silly cone..

I was thinking after I got the veneer applied, then the drivers installed, if I sealed around the outer half circle of the gasket with black RTV or silicone it should fix the problem and be pretty well unseeable.. especially if I can get grills together for these.

James...If you need speaker gasket material I have different widths in rolls from Parts Express...the stuff works pretty good!
Do the subs you made have an external crossover?

The gaskets I have are good thick paper and foam ones. THey just don't cover the holes completely. No big deal..

Yes, using a Behringer CX-3400. NICE crossover. A lot better crossover than I thought it would be, and now wishing I didn't have to tie it up just for a pair of subs.
