my new stereo

you wont be sorry you did. Only thing I miss is bass treble knobs. I know.. audiophile equipment doesnt have them. I need them to tone down some recordings and tone up others. Just my 2c

If you wanted to you could always put an EQ in between the preamp and power amps.

Wow nice speakers, though I have no idea why people buy into a no name, made in China brand like Emotiva! Enjoy!
I was thinking the exact same thing. The speakers are legit but the Emotiva amps are just simply cheap...both in price and quality and a great example of "you get what you pay for". Judging by the poster's name he really likes their stuff so that's all that matters.

Perfect example of someone whom has not heard them nor has 35 years of audio knowledge and experience with previous gear in the likes of mcintosh, levinson, krell and many, many others. The price is cheap, the build and specs are not. I didnt realize this had become a brand bashing thread and the motto here is ALL AUDIO, NO ATTITUDE. It's too bad because they truly do sound as good or better than most of the brands I've owned and sold. They are American designed and engineered products based in Franklin, Tennessee and built overseas just like most other products like phones. Before you bash, get the facts straight, actually, just dont bash at all. If you find a product that is actually junk, let the folks in here know your issue with it and maybe it will prevent wasted money on "white van special" type of equipment.

How is the bass? Is it heavy or thin or punchy? Looked on the site and I didn't see any tone controls.

No tone controls on my gear, the bass depends on the recording. some selections can literally make you feel like you've been punched in the chest but that is the nature of a speaker that can go to 10hz and take well over a thousand watts a channel. The amps IMO do not have a sound, they are quite neutral and extremely musical. They are probably the best bargain in the audio world that you can find brand new in a box. Don't let the few folks fool you, they are truly high end amplifiers that can run with some pretty prestigious gear and hold their own. The problem I am seeing is there is nowhere to audition them in a store so people are biased to the place they are built. You can read the reviews from people who have purchased them and look at the specs, I cant seem to find a bad review anywhere and some have sold their "higher end" (WAY more expensive) gear and replaced with these. They are that good. I will probably go with a equalizer of some sort to even out recordings as some are poorly done in some studios and others just need a bit of tweaking. Other than that, Not many speakers can handle the power these amps can muster, the big polks I have can along with some electrostats and few others. I'm not sure you can even run them to their full potential without severe hearing damage in the process so If you have speakers rated for considerably less input power, I suggest you look for a smaller amplifier. On the other hand more is always better to have an amp that never has to strain to produce. Ive been on a few forums and the consensus is the same...china... junk...cheap... same old story but I in fact own a pair and in the lines of a reviewer, "they will have to be pried out of my cold dead fingers". I really enjoy them.

Put on "Who's Next", and crank it. File report for us. Thanks

The police usually do all the filing of reports when i "crank it"....they seem to have no sense of humor knocking plates off shelves in the neighbors home.
On a sidenote, I watched some fireworks show one day on tv and cranked it up a bit and when i opened up the front door, the dog next door took off on a dead run down the street. I found humor in that.

Yeah I ignored the negatives comments. I like the look of them. Plus they cost around consumer based stuff and sound much better im sure of. Like I was saying I'm gonna get the dac the 2ch amp and use a marantz sr 7000 as a pre I would like tone controls though

Another unimformed troller who probably thinks his Bose Wave Guide radio is the best sounding in the world. :thumbsdn: You know, the saying, as has been said, "you get what you pay for", is totally wrong and only the unimformed will actually believe into that. For example, if it was true that "you get what you pay for" then evey person that paid the asking price for Bose, [white van junk], Audiofile, Affinity, etc, would be getting serious high end products and sound. At the same time, anyone buying the current crop of electronic gear coming out of China that is very inexpensive, like Yulong, Teradak, Little Dot, Aune, etc, would be getting cheap junk. The fact is that China has been taking their manufacturing medicine for a few years now and has been producing some incredidible electronics, DAC's, etc that totally blows away many American made products - and for a fraction of the cost. The Chinese have become the new Japanese in electronic manufacturing.

So if you still believe that "you get what you pay for", that's fine. You're free to buy Bose. But for those that know about stereo gear then Emotiva is a GREAT manufacture of some really great products for a fraction of what our thinking used to be. Besides, let's see what you got. C'mon, I dare you to post a pic of your gear. :smoke:

Thanks jimmy, good to have a friend here. We'll have to have a nice session with a bbq sometime, you're welcome anytime! thought I would post some other gear I have. The bottlehead deck and amplifier is yet to be installed in my vehicle as it is getting "restored" The polks are monitor 7b with the peerless tweeter and I have offered them to a friend to start his audiophile career. The large amount of speakers are ones I've owned previously and sold to one person and the picture is at his home. He calls it the "wall of pain".... I also sold him a nice amplifier and preamp and velodyne sub with lots of other things I cant remember. I'm sticking with polk as the drivers and parts are still available from the manufacturer and I always wanted a pair since the first pair of SDA 2 speakers I had in the 80's. I've owned so much gear I cant remember it all anymore and I'm sure my craigslist and ebay addiction wont quit soon.

Dude....is that a real tube car deck?....

Jimmy

Why yes it is... And it's got the three things a man likes. Meters, knobs, and tube preamp out. Only one like it in the world purchased in Kyoto Japan. It is one of the 3 best sounding sq decks in the world.:music:

I said three things:
1. I like your speakers
2. I do not like your amps
3. The only opinion that matters is yours because its your system.

How is anything i said bashing?!?!?!

JimmyNeutron you are a complete imbecile. I have heard emotiva amps with a number of speakers and did not like them in any instance. I cannot speak for their source gear nor speakers because i have not listened to them before. Here is my rig:
McIntosh, Enlightened Audio Designs and Richard Gray Power Company..very simple.
I apologize in advance to the thread poster but this guy is an idiot.

From your own mcintosh master.

Like I say, I've owned and sold all of the above. You would be wise to learn your p's and q's. If you can tell the difference between a mcintosh and an emotiva, you are a special person above the 50 percentile. Ive owned plenty of mcintosh gear. Been there and done that. I'm over it. Levinson also. Over it. Rotel. Over it. High end modified denon. Over it. Tube amps. Over them. Read and learn the truth from Roger. In his own words. I still own mcintosh gear, I choose what sounds best for me.

Lol! :lmao: . You come in and make a blanket statement about the posters gear which he is proud of sharing with us, then flame his name, then you throw a tantrum and start calling me names :nono: . No tact whatsoever. You didn't give your opinion, you bashed a members gear and questioned his reason for buying "just plain cheap" equipment. That's called trolling. Here at AK we don't do that to members. Your "appology in advance" isint really in advance since it was given after the fact. But what do I know, I'm just an embicil :D .

BTW, Merry Christmas

Jimmy

I went to a X-mass party last week and the girlfriend had spent several hundred dollars on a new dress, jewlery, tanning sessions, etc. I bought some new outfits that would compliment the effort that she had put forth,......they were made in Bangledesh. WTF? where in the heck is bangladesh?
Yet I looked amazingly good @ this function! Hmmm?

I associate this dinner party in referance with this thread because I also own a crap-load of audio gear. I personaly wouldn't mind getting a pair of those Emotiva monoblock amps in my house to audition as I have learned that it does not matter where it is made any longer, it is about performance and that is the bottom line!

McIntosh, Krell, Conrad Johnson, Pass Labs, and several others including that other highly overpriced peice of crap that I just gave my 13 year old son...........oh yeh, Mark Levinson. What a joke and waste of my hard earned money!
Let me back a friggin truckload of money up to your store and drive away with a 100+ pound paperweight.
