My son's setup

I certainly don't do everything for my kids. Ask any one of them. This particular son has had music playing in the house since he was born. He plays guitar and horn. We both love music and has been something we still enjoy together. He mods his own pedals and tweeks his guitars. I'm totally lost there. Thats where he is teaching me. He is an IT tech for the county school system now. I haven't worked on computers for about 5 years now. Thats about a million years in computer time. He is my go to guy for that stuff now. When he decided he wanted a better system I did help out with that since I have way to much gear. The seperates he liked he has now. I gave him a few ideas about how to mesh his computer and internet to it and he came up with a few pretty cool ways to stream whatever to where ever he wants. He is wanting a better TT now. So ive talked to him about direct drive vs belt, arms and suspensions, auto, semi auto, manual, ect. What he decides on is up to him. But, my daughter is still a way better mechanic than any of my sons. :D

Good on you Lavane,

Well said as well.

Wish my family had the same love for music as I was growing up.. We were allowed to play instruments growing up, but it was limited. I do play the trumpet and guitar myself, but was very strict on what i could play/learn.

Unfortunately for me and my siblings, we grew up in a very religious household where music was not allowed, unless it was 1st approved by the church, and 2nd by my dad. (Some serious ass backwards stuff) (Keep in mind, they did not grow up religious at all). Not that I want to get into my personal background, but good on you for having something to share with your son! My point is my relationship with my family is now limited, its refreshing to see someone sharing the passion of Audio with there son!

Love the Marantz gear, I've restored a few of the 250M's a while back. Great looking stack!

Kind Regards,
John

When Dad Passed I gave my son his Yamaha dual cassette deck, headphones and about 200 of my Cassettes.....
He listened to them all on an old Fischer 202 (I think still here somewhere) or headphones.
I'd hear him listening at night, I'd be chuckling away.... Abba to Zappa.
Later we put a Yamaha C65/M65 together with two pair Bose 401's (that I had from the boat) on speakers B and C, completely ruined him.
He figured out the thrift shop deals and puts systems together in University. His peers are clueless......but like hanging in his room.

He gets plenty of compliments on the system. I recently gave him a small tube amp I rebuilt to see if he would have any interest. I don't think ill see it anytime soon. He keeps a look out for old consoles for me and I keep an eye out for tube guitar amps for him.

Well if you are located in Northern Cal, depending on how "north" you are. There is a fellow AKer up in Oakland area who wheels/deals in audio gear, and has a lot of good guitar gear as well. Check out CL for Oakland, cant miss the gent! :)

Kind Regards,
John
