My system (Crown amplifier controversy busted)

I say it's not a big of a deal if they flash on occasion, but it wouldn't be my opinion it's proper they're flashing rather often. To me if they're flashing rather often it's indicative of not enough rig for the gig.
I didn't word that correctly. Rather often,....maybe more often than some would think would be more appropriate.

flickering,.....not flashing

In regards to the Crown com-tech, manual states the IOC lights when output is exceeding......
0.05% distortion

everybody can hear that, obviously.

lol

Yep, early one.
Mine since new in 1970.
I`ve had that same early serial # model D-150 that I attractively priced bought used in the mid eighties.
It did service in my shop`s separates stereo duty for over a decade powered up 24/7/365, with only a gain pot replacement after an house antenna was struck by lightning in 1997.

The reason that that gain pot needed to be replaced was I fed the audio to that shop stereo via attic run L/R coaxes from my living room`s master A/V source and signal control rack and the lightning`s strike EMP energy ran down the coax feed`s shield looking for ground and completely fried open the pot, and for some unexplainable reason just one channel`s pot !

The amp surprisingly factory spec`d out after replacing the fried pot !

No able to find the signal to noise ratio in the PS-400 ?
Also why the slew rate in the PS-400 is so low ?
How loud is the fan in the PSA-2 ?
I'd likely choose the PSA-2 over the PS-400, too, but then I already own several PS-400s.
PS-400 Signal-to-Noise ratio is 120dB from 20Hz—20kHz at full-rated output
Slew rate listed as 16 V per microsecond

Which one has the better specs between the 2 ? which one was more expensive at the time ?

PSA-2. At the time, the PSA-2 was only bettered by the "Reference" Series (just two amps in the Reference series). And while the Reference series was for studio use, the PSA was designed for field use.

While the slew rate for the PS-400 may be 16 volts per microsecond, the PSA is >30 volts per microsecond. And, the PSA does 685 wpc into 2 ohms at 1% distortion.

Actually, first there was the Crown Macro Reference. Later we had the Studio Reference-I and the Studio Reference-II. I have a Studio Reference-II and it is my favorite Crown amp. So quiet through the speakers and I've never heard the fan come on. But I don't know much of the background, being just a listener all my life, not an EE or a tech. :dunno:

Here are some update system pictures.
