Sansui advertised 300wpc at 8,4, and 2 ohms. This mystery amp goes higher, 550-600 at 4, 750 at 2.

Only person I could think of to ask, outside of James Bongiorno himself, would be Luther(wardsweb) Admin here. I'm not gonna bother him. susurus, did you buy this off e-bay?? I saw one similar kinda beat up like this one, goldish rack handles, I almost bid on it and told the seller, I thought it was an SAE design and probably a one-off done by James B. If you still have the e-bay link, and if you did buy it, this seller had no clue either, am I at least close on that part?? I think the seller even posted my Q in the revised Q & A part. I didn't win and deleted it.

He could if it'll do DC, know a story of a fella that used a 1.5 v battery on the input of a crown DC300 to jump a car.
I'm thinking your amp isn't from a company that's notable for pro gear.
While it has a "back porch" similar to a Peavey CS 1200, it has no octal sockets for crossover/filter/transformer modules which can be found on most if not all Peavey and BGW amps, and many others of the era.
I'm tempted to say Cerwin Vega, but i don't think that's right either.
I'm thinking your amp isn't from a company that's notable for pro gear.

The central switch and nondescript face had me wanting to say that when i saw this thread earlier, but honestly, it looked too well done to be a CV, and i don't mean that in a berating way, it's just a better layout than i'm familiar with in the slightly older ones.

One digit off, your 400 has the same faceplate/rack handles, but inside it's another baliwick.
Nearly nada on the web about this. Slightly later/sideways version had huge VU meters and twin toroids, called the Metron A4000. Bolly says 79-84 msrp 1600.
