Mystery Danish Speakers? ...

Everyone's gotta own a pair of A25s at somep point to appreciate 'em. They really are great sounding small bookshelf speakers.

They looked a little smallish to be 25's at first. I would've guessed Dynaco A-10. I did a double take on the tweeter, not original? I am still looking forward to my first A-25's, cosmetics not a real issue. I almost had a pair a while back. Still kicking myself for not doing the buy-it-now. Lister had them as Denmark speakers, but some loudmouth educated the lister halfway through the auction and they got pulled and relisted for twice the price. Same for a pair of Celestion 700's. Originally listed as Celestion FOO (yes, foo. the graphic model number has a slash through the seven making it look like an "F"). Pulled and relisted for $2500 after languishing for $150. Stands included though.lol. Some people should mind their own business.

I could not agree more :thmbsp: There are so many big mouths and snotty-nosed spoilers that sometimes I feel like whippin' out the ol' elephant gun :yes:



'Tis a good thing that there are no rear pot controls on the A-10s. Sometimes Dynaco's are hard to differenciate in pics - especially A-25 vs. A-35

Friend of mine is going to bring me a pair of (chances are) A-25s to refoam. He says they are Dynaco but is unsure of the model number. I told him I may have to listen to them for a week or two before he gets them back. Will be a chance to at least hear a pair after reading quite a bit here on AK about them.

I thought all A-25s/A-35s/A-50s had butyl rubber woofer surrounds. If they have foam, they could be those newer 3 way models?

Absolutely correct, they ain't no steenkin' foam surrounds on the interesting Dynaco speakers.

Non-original woofers, or some new Dyna made after they sold the name to who knows.

The age on his speakers is right for the good stuff. He said they weren't working and I assumed they probably needed refoaming. SO.....I will check them out, anyway.

Finally hooked the A-25s up to a recently acquired Yamaha C-820 ... and they sounded ... OK ... a little lacking in the Bass dept. ... especially when compared to the '70s Hersey's that are also hooked up to the C-820 ... but that's probably not a fair comparison ...

no kidding.
once i agreed to buy Altec 19 for $200 over the phone off of craigslist, and when i got there, some idiot told the seller what they were worth. the seller wanted $1000. if the idiot actually bought the speakers before me for say..$300, i wouldn't have felt so angry, but the guy just wanted to spoil my deal. sick bastards......i bet they enjoy doing that.

Hey, a similar thing happened to me on Craigslist for a Marantz 500 amp/3300 preamp deal. It was $125, but by the time I got there after talking to him, someone called him and told him $800 minimum. The stuff was never used in mint condition with the wood cases, too.

Wow, I wouldn't have expect that, at all. The bass from my A-25s are it's strongest point, especially bass/midbass resolution. I'm shocked at the Heresy's having more bass capabilities, frankly.

Wow, I wouldn't have expect that, at all. The bass from my A-25s are it's strongest point, especially bass/midbass resolution. I'm shocked at the Heresy's having more bass capabilities, frankly, unless you are talking about purely output.
