Need Help Identifying Tannoy Speaker

They may be diy cabs. Most of the ones I've seen have labels with the models on them. You will have to remove the drivers to determine their real value. Likely a red or a gold driver with the pepper pot waveguide. If you're looking for value, that auction site is a good source.

The housing, knobs, and binding posts on the back are what you would expect to find with Golds, but, if I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing on the front, the surrounds look suspiciously like the Tannoplas surrounds you find on HPD's. I've heard some of the very last Golds ended up with Tannoplas surrounds, so maybe that's what going on here. Then again, maybe not. In any case, they look as if they need new surrounds, which is something to keep in mind when making an offer, but certainly no reason not to buy them.

Well, I bought them. I paid 200 bucks. I hope I didn't spend too much. The surrounds on both speakers are completely shot. The cabinets are in rough shape, but can be fixed up... Nothing too major.
Some people are telling me that I will need to find an expert IOT have the surrounds replaced. Why is this? And what constitutes an expert?

I'm about as far from being an expert as you can get and I've successfully re-surrounded HPD 295's-- and that was with JBL surrounds since there are none out there intended specifically for this speaker. Fortunately for you this is not the case for the larger Tannoys, or at least wasn't last I checked. The replacement surrounds for your speakers are pretty pricey as surrounds go ($80-$90 US, I think), but at least they can be had. I'm not recommending any particular course of action, you understand. All I'm saying is here's one fool who's done it, and it wasn't particularly challenging, once you get all the old crap off.
Secondly, if all your speakers need is new surrounds then I would say you got a great deal. (Not quite as great as my Reds for $100, but then I'm not one to gloat... wait a second, I think I am gloating. Sorry about that.)
Once you get these things up and running I think you'll really like them.

Ok, I wish I had a camera. I pulled one to the speakers. Only the high frequencies are working. Something is wrong. I don't know what it is.
On the inside on the crossover, it's printed HPD 315. SO I guess that solves that mystery. The speaker itself is painted gold, but has a blue back. It says Tannoy Monitor Royal type 12/60.
I bought everything for 200 bucks, but I called the seller and told him that one speaker isn't working (just high frequencies) and he's refunding half. So I got everything for 100 bucks. Now... Here's the facts...
1 speaker seems to work fine. 1 Speaker only has the high frequencies. Both speakers need surrounds. Advice needed!
Can anyone shed some light on what I have? Can anyone give me some advice on what to do next? Is it a driver?

Nope, It's not the crossovers. I just pulled both speakers and switched them. One speaker is not working. Is there it's just a loose wire on the speaker? I mean a possibility? Could it still be something other than the driver? Is it fixable?

Do the posts look OK? You want to check the tinsel leads, too, the small wires that go to the cones. If you have a meter, check for resistance across the posts. If you have a 1.5v. battery, two wires to the battery one to a temeinal on the diver and tap the other one on the remaining post. If the voice coil is OK, the cone should move.
