Need help ID'ing this amp

Can anyone ID this amp from the pictures. It's on CL and I need to know if it's worth picking up.

Not sure - looks like Pioneer, maybe Yamaha or Kenwood. Looks good though - go and get it!

I didn't know what it was. Maybe a pioneer because of the way the back looks?

I am gettnig a JC Penney MCS ("Modular Components Series") vibe.

It is an MCS. If it's the model I think it is, rated at 45 watts/channel. Also known for sticking output meter needles! All in all, not a bad amp, especially if the price is right.

Would tend to agree with MCS based on what looks to be bold lettering in the lower left corner

Yeah, I would agree that it is a MCS (Modular Component Series) sold by JCPenney in the late 70's or early 80's. They used both Technics and NEC components and re-badged them. Since I don't recognize this as a Technics, I would tend to think that is an NEC. I have not had much experience with NEC components (apart from a very, very old CD player with the MCS designation), but I know of people who like them.

Thanks for all the help. BostonDave was the closest. It's an MCS 3845. It does not work the case screws are missing and the bass knob is broken off. I picked it up anyways. I plan on making this my first electrical repair. So far, with the help of other Ak'ers, it seems that the STK0050 Audio Power Amplifiers are bad. The symptom: main power fuse blows as soon as the switch is turned on. I pulled the power amp and now the fuse does not blow. The real question though: Is the problem past the power amp and will new ones just get smoked if I install them? I plan to do a little more research before I invest the $20.00. If anyone has any input please feel free…

I checked the STK-0050's and found the left one was showing no resistance across pins 2-3 and 8-9 while the right one showed infinite resistance across all pins. I re-installed the right one and the right channel came on strong. I switched it to the left channel with the same result. So I answered my questions about the problem and the solution. A couple of replacement power amplifiers and this unit should be in service in my shop. I might address the bass controller but I usually leave both the bass and treble in the neutral position.
