Need help with SL 1700MK2

Hey, ditto. Have a 1700 MK2 with exactly the same problem. Well, the cueing works however when lowered the arm moves laterally ever so slightly and changes the drop point on the record...another issue. No, no auto return function. I'ld be glad to chip in as well .
 
Cool- I grabbed a yet-to-be-shipped SL1710MK2 with issues with the cue/return (I also have one fully functioning/working SL1710MK2).

I'd be interested in what you have.

I can't wait to get the SL1700 working, I may even do a wodden base for it a la KAB mode, since the feet are missing.

john- the 170 is deeper- you'll need to build your own base, KAB's won't fit.

Do you have access to woodworking tools?
 
I'm a sick, sick man, after consuming a wee bit of adult beverages on Saturday at the 'Irish Days' celebration in Murphys California. I made the mistake a taking a look on that auction site. Bought a mint condition SL-1600MK2! So now I have 2 MK2's and don't think the wife will be real happy so the 1700 may go for sale after it is fully restored - or not. Everyone needs a backup TT.

I've a 1700 MK2 that I bought off eBay a month or so ago with dead stop and cueing functions. I checked it out and confirmed bad chips on the main board.

I took a different approach to fix, and used an Arduino UNO prototyping board to replace the function of the arm motor drive board. (see http://www.arduino.cc/)

Basically I plug the stop and cue switches along with the arm's plunger switches and return optical switch into the UNO as inputs. I wrote a bit of code to mimic the logic circuits and output arm motor commands directly to the arm motor

Just got it working tonight during the Syr game halftime. :banana:

I'll throw some pics in after the game and maybe a bid
All thats really left to do is find a spot on the existing boards to provide 12 V power to the UNO and figure out a way to package.

If you won the one I'm thinking you won, you got one clean looking 1600. From the description it sounded to me like the seller didn't have a clue as to how to get the platter spinning. I hope it works as good as it looks.

I have the one you mentioned in my watch list. The one I got is fully functional and was listed as near mint. I think I paid a fair price for a nice table. I hope to have the 1700 fixed before the 'new one' arrives. Hopefully the wife won't notice the slight change. She will surely kill me if I complete the family and find an 1800MK2!

But - I will be happy to publish the parts list and I am open to do another group buy. The transistors are the key - chips are no big deal at all. The micro switches I selected are very nice and should last a lifetime as they are the same brand as OEM and have very low activation force.
