New Category: TAPE find of the day?!?

A bunch of 8-tracks score just now I purchased from lotus land music and electronics 2660 Alma street Vancouver BC, in need to be refurbished by me, thus new sensing foil (splice) and pads .$30,- bucks for the lot. It has some sweet titles!

Bought this from Goodwill. Wish I could say I got it super cheap, but they knew what this was worth. Typically, the cases are beat to hell, but this Savoy is super nice, a keeper.

But the best parts are inside.

I just improved my tape collection by 100%.

Picked up a few user-recorded R2R tapes at the local church rummage sale. One of them labeled “Side 1: Apollo 11 Side2: Moon Walk” so I popped it on the old Rust Bucket and started listening to the then live audio of Apollo 11 coming out from behind the moon getting ready to fire the retros in preparation for undocking the Lunar Excursion Module, on the way to landing on the Moon. Oh. My. Gosh. Wow. Recorded at 3.75 IPS. Gonna sit down with a tub of popcorn and listen to both sides.

Was this recorded in the same studio where the landing was faked?

Just kidding. :)

Hey hey, I just ventured into R2R territory (posted a separate thread), but I think this would fit into this thread...

Just got this box of 35qty. 7" reel tapes. Paid less than the cost of a good breakfast at a diner.

All needle drops of 70's bands. So far only listened to a couple and they are obviously somebody's backups and recorded very well. All Scotch 212 and Ampex 641. The Scotch tapes sound much better so far. The Ampex have a little roll-off on the high end that is noticable.

<Well how's this?>
Consider for the moment, the title of the category; then - reading the description, I don't see how the 201 (which I also own) fits.
So not being 'tape' it has no 'content' to be discovered. " WHAT I propose is a list for newly discovered recordings found on tapes acquired from some other party."

But HEY - its the web and pretty much 'whatever' seems to be the rule of the day/platform. Not gonna cry over it. The fact that there are 24 pages speaks for itself.
Enjoy the deck; my orig one (NEW) was 'given-up' to former wife. 2nd one is just as nice less wear even... playing R2R more these days

Now IF the 201 had an ADVENT Cro2 tape of Dylan's ROLLING THUNDER REVIEW show in Augusta, Me....

I dug this out of my storage space today. This tape offers the full line-up of classic classical from The Fied. I used to see him at the July 4th concerts in the 70's. I haven't seen this tape since the 1970's when it was last played. Good luck finding this one on cassette. Produced by... Radio Shack. LOL. (on the way home stopped at salvation army and picked up a Sony SS-WS300 subwoofer for $2.50. good day.)

I had the LP version of that when was a kid. I remember how horrible it sounded.

I know its nothing rare or anything like that but just bought my first cassette tapes since the mid 90's just a bit ago at a thrift store for 10 cents, a 1992 copy of the album "Core" by Stone Temple Pilots, I know to most that doesn't seem very exciting in the least but to this 90's kid who grew up on cassette tapes and grunge music it made my freakin day to say the least, now I just gotta go to my music room and listen to it on a 1995 Sony R2500 and blast it thru some 90's AR M2's and sit back and let the sound take me back to 1992 when i was 11 yrs old, I love bein so easily amused lol!!!!IMG_20210708_142847.jpg
