New record for a KR11000???

Maybe so, but man that thing is gorgeous. If it sounds half as good as it looks, worth every penny.

I had an eleven gx at one time and while impressive looking I just don't feel they are worth any where near that.

Kenwood KR-11000

I looked at that one and drooled. So I got on Craigslist and found one within 2 hours of my house. Just bought it for $350. Unfortunately, I won't get to see it until later this week when one of my friends brings it to Portland for me.

Here are photos sent to me or grabbed from CraigsList: http://btmacdou.smugmug.com/Electronics/Kenwood-KR11000GX

It's a little dusty in side and there may be some signs of heat on the power supply board but the owner says he had it for 15 years and everything works (other than a couple of burned out bulbs). After a fews e-mails and a phone conversation I decided to trust him. The only serious physical defect is a noticeable scratch in the center of the faceplate (which you can see in the photo). I did not deem this serious enough to warrant paying more than $900 for the one on e-Bay!

One thing that I noticed is that the transformer seems rather small for a 120 watt receiver... at least compared to some 125 watt rigs I've seen. Does anyhone have a comment about that?

I will update once I get the beast and asses its true condition.

Congrats on your new receiver!

Sonically, I think there are better gear out there. However, this thing looks so cool that is one of the best examples of form over function... Just my $0.02

I was "given" a Kenwood KR11000G this summer. A friends wife set it out for the trash and my friend brought it to me the next day. Ery......i was walking out to my friends truck to get it out of the bed and the hair on my arms rose as I had a feeling it "might" be a monster. To my amazement it was! It needed a real good cleaning, some work to the wooden top case slats.....everything including timer and bulbs work. What a treasure.
