ND deputy accused of vomiting at concert arrested

Jun 23, 9:30 PM (ET)

FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A sheriff's deputy and his mother face charges of disorderly conduct after the deputy vomited on people at a Kenny Chesney concert in Fargo and refused to leave, authorities say. Police Sgt. Mark Lykken said Stark County Deputy Justin Krohmer, 26, and his mother, Susan, 47, whose husband is the Ada, Minn., police chief, were arrested after the Saturday night incident.

Lykken said Justin Krohmer was asked to leave the Fargodome about 11 p.m. Saturday after vomiting on people in front of him, but he refused to do so.

Susan Krohmer is accused of pulling and pushing officers, screaming profanities and of trying to prevent an officer from escorting her son out of the concert.

Not to draw the ire of "country" fans, but if forced to sit through a Kenny Chesney concert, I too might feel the urge. :D

I don't even know who Kenny Chesney is (country music doesn't get much play in Hong Kong, so I'm out of touch with newer performers --as in anyone famous in the past 15 years, except Garth Brooks). Sure do feel sorry for those poor people who were vomited upon, though. Not too many worse ways to have a concert spoiled than having some stranger suddenly :puke: on you!

Swedish city votes to let women go topless ——–

MALMO, Sweden - The sports and recreation committee in
Malmo, Sweden, has voted to allow women to go topless in
the city’s swimming pools. The board struck down a motion
that women “with two-piece swimsuits ought to wear a top
piece,” after controversy was sparked by members of the
feminist Just Breasts/Bare Breasts network made visits to
the city’s pools sans bikini tops, The Local reported. The
board ended up approving a measure stating that “everybody
should wear bathing suits” at the city’s pools but the
measure does not specify that women must cover their upper
halves. “I’m satisfied with the decision,” said Bengt
Forsberg, chair of the sports and recreation committee on
recreation. “Everyone is required to have a swimsuit when
visiting the city’s indoor pools and if it doesn’t cover
the upper body, that’s OK too.” Forsberg, a Social
Democrat, said he believes the entire issue has been
overblown. “We don’t define what bathing suits men should
wear so it doesn’t make much sense to do it for women. And
besides, it’s not unusual for men to have large breasts
that resemble women’s breasts,” he said. Wait, WHAT!?!

Quadrillion here, a quadrillion there, pretty soon you're talking about real money!

NH man charged 23 quadrillion dollars for smokes
7/15/09

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire man says he swiped his debit card at a gas station to buy a pack of cigarettes and was charged over 23 quadrillion dollars. Josh Muszynski checked his account online a few hours later and saw the 17-digit number — a stunning $23,148,855,308,184,500 (twenty-three quadrillion, one hundred forty-eight trillion, eight hundred fifty-five billion, three hundred eight million, one hundred eighty-four thousand, five hundred dollars).

Muszynski says he spent two hours on the phone with Bank of America trying to sort out the string of numbers and the $15 overdraft fee.

The bank corrected the error the next day.

Bank of America tells WMUR-TV only the card issuer, Visa, could answer questions. Visa, in turn, referred questions to the bank.

My favorite part is right there at the end where they both referred questions to each other. :D

Drunk Badger Disrupts Traffic

BERLIN (Reuters) – A badger in Germany got so drunk on over-ripe cherries it staggered into the middle of a road and refused to budge, police said on Wednesday.

A motorist called police near the central town of Goslar to report a dead badger on a road -- only for officers to turn up and discover the animal alive and well, but drunk.

Police discovered the nocturnal beast had eaten cherries from a nearby tree which had turned to alcohol and given the badger diarrhoea.

Having failed to scare the animal away, officers eventually chased it from the road with a broom.

Bride's bouquet brings down plane:

The traditional throwing of a bride's bouquet for luck ended in disaster at an Italian wedding when the flowers caused a plane to crash.

The bride and groom had hired a microlight plane to fly past and throw the bouquet to a line of women guests, Corriere della Sera reported.

However, the flowers were sucked into the plane's engine causing it to catch fire and explode.

The aircraft plunged into a hostel. One passenger on the plane was badly hurt.
But about 50 people who had been in the hostel escaped unscathed, as did the pilot.

Entangled

The incident happened at Montioni park in Suvereto, near Livorno, where the wedding reception was being held, Corriere della Sera said.

A passenger on the microlight, named as Isidoro Pensieri, 44, had the job of throwing the bouquet as pilot Luciano Nannelli flew past.

It is believed the bunch of flowers became entangled as it was thrown, and was sucked into the engine.

Mr Pensieri suffered multiple fractures and a head injury. He was taken to hospital in Grosseto by helicopter and then transferred to another in Pisa, Italian media reported.

Oscar Mayer Wienermobile crashes into Wis. home
7/18/09

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. — One southern Wisconsin homeowner is probably not in love with the Oscar Mayer wiener. The famed hot dog's Wienermobile crashed Friday into the deck and garage of a home in Mount Pleasant, about 35 miles south of Milwaukee.

Police said the driver was trying to turn the Wienermobile around in the driveway and thought she was moving in reverse. But she instead went forward and hit the home. It sat in the driveway as if it were stuck in the garage Friday afternoon.

No one was home and no one was injured. No citations were immediately issued.

Both the home and vehicle suffered moderate damage, which Oscar Mayer spokeswoman Sydney Lindner says insurance will cover.

Police hadn't been able to speak to the homeowner as of early Friday evening.

I SWEAR THIS IS A TRUE STORY My friend and I attended a pink floyd concert in oakland at the coloseum which of course was a packed house. When it came time to leave, we are standing there in a crowd that seemed to be not moving at all. My friend who was behind me tapped me on the shoulder and told me to cover my mouth with my hand and just play along, He then shouted at the top of his lungs, "LOOKOUT, HES GONNA PUKE!!"

The crowd parted like the red sea and we were outta there in seconds flat,(being persued by a few angry people that didnt seem to like his creativity)

Haha, an internal probe!

Story is kinda gross, but the last line makes it worth it. :thmbsp:

Man claims he found condom in French onion soup
Jul 22, 9:27 PM

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - A man has sued a local Claim Jumper restaurant claiming he ordered French onion soup and bit into a condom instead of melted cheese. Zdenek Philip Hodousek filed the lawsuit Tuesday in Orange County Superior Court seeking unspecified damages over fears he may have contracted a disease.

Hodousek's attorney Eric Traut said his client wants to have restaurant employees' DNA tested to find a match to the condom.

A public relations firm representing Claim Jumper said no one can prove the so-called "foreign object" Hodousek took from the restaurant is the item that was submitted to a lab for testing.

The firm said an internal probe revealed no employee wrongdoing.

Australia's Human Rights and Equal Opportunities Commission announced plans in December to create a third official gender for government identification: "intersex," for transsexuals, whether or not they have had surgery. Immediately, activists from Sex and Gender Education Australia called the proposal inadequate, demanding a fourth gender, also, for people who feel that "gender" is either "undefinable" or subject to daily changes of attitude. [Daily Telegraph (Sydney), 12-6-08]

Just what the heck am I anyway.

Pete

Pete, that reminds me of the bicycle and pedestrian commission in my city (bless them, really) who were redesigning street and sidewalk standards to form a more walkable/bikable community, which is a good thing, but I can't take anything seriously. Their standards at one point for a 'major artery' street were: 4 ft. bike lane next to the curb...another bike lane behind the curb level with the street because some bikers wanted to ride with traffic and be like cars, and others were afraid they'd get run over, then you had the 6-ft. wide sidewalk so 2 wheelchairs could pass each other without crowding. I said wait a minute, what about unicycles? Maybe a real skinny bike lane for them. And what about one-legged people? Don't we need a one-foot-wide pedestrian stumpway? They didn't see the humor.:dunno:

Retiring Army Colonel Eats 1969 C-Ration Pound Cake

Army colonel tries old C-ration pound cake

Jul 25, 9:49 AM (ET)
By SAGAR MEGHANI

WASHINGTON (AP) - Forty years later, Henry A. Moak, Jr., still loves his pound cake.
The Army colonel popped open a military C-ration can of pound cake from 1969 at his retirement ceremony, and dug in.
Moak got the drab olive can as a Marine helicopter pilot off the Vietnamese coast in 1973. He vowed to hang on to it until the day he retired, storing it in a box with other mementos.
After a formal retirement ceremony, dozens of friends and relatives joined Moak in the Pentagon's Hall of Heroes as he opened the can to cheers. Moak joked earlier this week that he hoped the can wouldn't explode. It let off a whooshing sound as the pressure seal broke.
"It smells good," Moak said as he put a handful in his mouth. He jokingly staggered back a few feet and loudly cleared his throat, while one person yelled out, "Eeww, gross!"
Moak pronounced the cake "good."
"It's even a little moist," he said, wiping his mouth. He dared anybody "gutsy" enough to join him, and retired Lt. Gen. Paul T. Mikolashek, who was the U.S. Army Europe commander when Moak served overseas, took an even bigger piece.
"Tastes just like it always did," Mikolashek mumbled with a mouthful of cake as Moak laughed and clapped.
Moak said he wasn't worried about getting sick from any bacteria that may have gotten into the old can, because it looked sealed. But the military discourages eating from old rations.
"Given the risks ... we do everything possible to ensure that overly aged rations are not consumed," said Lawrence Levine, a spokesman for the Defense Supply Center in Philadelphia.
Levine named the threats as mold and deadly botulism if the sealing on the food has been broken, which isn't always visible.
Moak says though he warned his children over the years not to touch his pound cake, he did let them eat some other rations when they were growing up in the 1980s, including canned spaghetti and crackers.
And how did those taste? "Fine. Well ... not like from our great restaurants."

Woman finds 'stolen' Audi in neighbor's garage

Mechanics delivered to the wrong house 2 years earlier...

Jul 30, 9:04 PM (ET)

BERLIN (AP) - An Audi sedan written off by an elderly German woman as stolen two years ago has resurfaced - in her neighbor's garage beneath a thick layer of dust. Police said Thursday the 82-year-old from the northern city of Hildesheim took the car in for repairs two years ago and had the mechanics drive it back to her house and park it in her garage.

She got the keys and papers from her mailbox, but when she went to get the car it was nowhere to be found. So she reported it stolen.

Fast forward to Wednesday when her neighbor went to clean up his unused garage so it could be rented. He found the car under "a centimeter-deep coating of dust."

It didn't take police long to piece together that the mechanics had parked it in the wrong garage.

I thought I was disorganized. Imagine having a garage you didn't look in for 2 years? Didn't they need the space? :scratch2:
