Tractor Thief Falls in Liquid Manure Pit

Somerset, UK A man in his 20s tried to steal a tractor from Folletts Farm. But he was disturbed by beef farmer Lance House, 50, and fell into a deep slurry pit as he fled through the darkness.

Four fire crews were called to the scene and spent an hour rescuing him from the excrement using ropes and special equipment.

The man was then arrested by police on suspicion of attempted theft of a motor vehicle and released on bail.

"We heard the tractor running late at night and found this lad reversing it across the yard who was high as a kite on drugs or alcohol," Mr House said.

''He jumped out while it was moving and ran off and then I was looking around and started hearing someone shouting 'help, help.'

''I found him with a torch in the slurry pit. He had fallen in while running away and only his head was coming out of the slurry."

He added: ''I called the fire brigade and police. If we hadn't been there he would have died and that's not a nice way to go.

''They took about an hour getting him out of there with ropes.''
Christine Barnett, who also lives on the farm, revealed that the unnamed man had to be treated by paramedics after escaping the pit.

She added: ''I actually felt quite sorry for him - he was frightened to death. It must have been scary for him.

''While we were waiting for the fire brigade he was telling me how sorry he was and how he would never do it again. He really was up to his neck in it.''

UK Man Throws Curry Powder at Pizza Workers

Uhhh...oh-kay... :scratch2:

London Telegraph 31 Dec 2009

A man in a balaclava ran into a Domino's Pizza shop and threw curry powder into the faces of four members of staff as they prepared to close.

The workers were taken to hospital for treatment to minor facial injuries at around 1am, as police investigated what they described as an "unusual" attempted robbery.

The stocky man, who was also wearing a black jumper, left the shop in Farnborough, Hants, empty handed.

DC Andy Grieve, from Hampshire Constabulary, appealed for information about the attack.

"This was an unusual incident and although nothing was stolen, members of staff did require hospital treatment," he said.

One wonders why they would need medical treatment. Must have been a heckuva curry. :tears:

Ohio County Pays Man $1, 500 for Bat Bite

DELAWARE, Ohio (AP) -- An Ohio county has agreed to pay $1,500 to a man who was bitten by a rabid bat and turned to a little-known state law that allows for compensation. Commissioners in Delaware County, north of Columbus, voted Thursday to provide 61-year-old David Froehlich with the maximum reimbursement under the law, even though he put in his request for the money two days late.

The law allows a person hurt by a rabid animal to seek a county's help with the medical bills. But the request must be made within four months of the bite, and Froehlich just missed the window.

A prosecutor who reviewed Froehlich's claim said he was surprised to learn of the law.

Froehlich's wife said her husband was bitten Aug. 22 and that insurance didn't cover the $5,000 hospital bill.

A passenger on the Ryanair flight from Poland ate his winning scratchcard after being told he could not collect the cash on board

The unnamed man was flying with Ryanair from Krakow, in Poland, to East Midlands Airport when he won €10,000 with the scratch card.

Cabin crew on the flight confirmed he had a winning card, but told the passenger he would have to collect the jackpot directly from the company that runs the competition as they did not have enough cash on board the plane.

Ryanair said the man then became frustrated and started to eat his winning ticket while on the flight on Thursday.

His rash actions mean he has lost any chance of claiming the prize money, which will now be donated to charity.

Stephen McNamara, a spokesman for Ryanair, said the cabin crew and some passengers had attempted to persaude the man not to eat the ticket, but he stood up and ate it anyway.

"Passengers have always been delighted to claim their large cash prizes after returning home. Unfortunately our latest winner felt that we should have his 10,000 euros prize kicking around on the aircraft.

"Crew tried to stop the air Gourmet Scratch Card eater by offering him one of our great tasting sandwiches, pizzas or snacks instead, but clearly he had much more expensive tastes!"

Ryanair is now asking passengers to vote online to decide where the money should go.

Guy must be a nutball - I would have taken the sandwich. :D
