I'm sure they're great speakers. Hope you land them.

Yup, I believe this is correct. These had a switch on the front to select between music and AV use (in that little indentation below the grills). Somewhat similar to the 2.5i (I'm not sure if the dual woofers are the same, but the subwoofer and tweeter appear to be) without the angled front baffles. There are almost no bad NHT speakers.
ETA: the 2.5i used 6.5" midranges while the 1.4 used 4.5". Also, the 1.4 cabinet is significantly narrower (7" vs 5.5").

They are indeed NHT VT 1.4's and I was able to get them. Part of the deal was I had to take the VS 1.4 center also. I knew that when I emailed, just didn't know what model the towers were.
The guy lived about 90 miles away but agreed to meet me half way. He knew what he had but wanted to go "wireless" and didn't need these anymore. After telling him I would help out with his gas, I gave him $160 and drove back home.
They are in near perfect condition. There is only one small scratch in the piano finish that will be an easy repair. All the drivers function. Now just to get them cleaned up and put into my system. Now I just need to find 4 NHT surrounds that will complement them.

SB1s or SB2s will work fine for surround duty. Or you can use SuperZeroes or SuperOnes if you don't mind using a soft dome instead of the aluminum tweeter. I have two surround systems using NHTs, both with 1.5 fronts (same tweeter as yours). One I use the AC1 center and SuperOnes for surround; the other I use an SB1 as the center (no room for anything larger) and SuperZeroes for surrounds.

I actually cam across a line on 4 Super Zeros for $140 new with free shipping that I just went for. I think they will do just fine as surrounds since most of the material will be coming from the front. I know it will not be a perfect timbrel match but aesthetics overrides in this home.
I have a decision to make about subs down the line. I am not concerned about them being NHT since I know nothing about them and am it will be hidden anyway. I have some old, tired one that will have a hard time keeping up.
Once I get everything in place, I will have a decent Sony ED system on the Clist. I think they will probably catch more than what I paid for this system combined. Maybe!!!

You'll be happy with those, I think. And Superzeroes are small and light enough that you can wall mount and almost hide them.

I got the Super Zeros about 2 days ago. I have the sides installed and like them very much. I will get some brackets to mount them at the proper height tomorrow. Not quite sure what to do about the rears yet. I will set them on the shelves the other surrounds were on for the time being.
Even tho they were used I was pleasantly surprised they were in excellent condition. After a little cleaning and Windex they are perfect. I just need to do a mic check on my receiver after I get them set up and I will be ready to go.
A great investment that I will probably get back once I sell the Sony ED set.
