Nikko STA-8085

Hello, I am looking at getting a Nikko STA-8085 ... however I know almost nothing about it. Anybody have experience or advice? I have heard these are underappreciated quality. Feelings?
Thanks.

Hi:

I had and sold a 9095 a few weeks back. It seemed to be a nice little receiver, 65 wpc and solidly built, but I had more than I needed and make the fun money recycling, so off to auction it went. FYI, I choose to keep an Onkyo TX-5000 (another unsung gem) and a couple Marantzs (2270 and 2265B) over it, so it had some serious competition.

Bully likes them so expect a more informed opinion from him.

Nikko IS very nice. Fine quality. I have the NR-1015, a more than healthy 85 wpc receiver. Neat as a pin inside. Haven't heard any Nikko gear that didn't perform well and sound good.
My Orion sez the 8085 went at 48 wpc, sold from 1976-80.

Yes, but new, online or the print version, is expensive. I got a 1997 edition off of eBay pretty cheap.
Look for the Orion Audio Blue Book [year]. Great for me, 'cause newer stuff I cannot afford ;)

Sometimes open links to the online version show up. Very handy.
Even what info is available, I think I remember power being one bit of info you get for free.
