I remember the shredded wheat that came as one huge hay bale for your bowl. Or Boochie , is this some cartridge metaphor you smart boys understand ?

I actually like those BIG shredded wheat bales. With tons of sugar and milk, until they're soggy.

Being smart is the ability to fool the most ppl, most of the time.

Shhh! That's our little secret!

Maple syrup is a Vermont product mostly right?
Per a Bing search: Vermont is the top producing state, followed by New York and Maine. Other states that produce maple syrup include Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Michigan, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Michigan, Pennsylvania, and other states have an even larger amount of potential maple resource that could be tapped.

Per Wiki: The Canadian province of Quebec is the largest producer, responsible for 70 percent of the world's output; Canadian exports of maple syrup in 2016 were C$487 million (about US$360 million), with Quebec accounting for some 90 percent of this total.

This thread illustrates why the average American is overweight and diabetic. Those sugar cereals are garbage peddled by the fast food congloms under the guise of a nutritious breakfast. What nutrition was there in the raw has been refined out to the point it no longer resembles anything remotely beneficial except to the manufacturers, big pharma and the HMOs. Yuk!

Plenty of sugar mills in Mass, we even tapped a tree in our front yard one year. Grew up on a horse ranch with crab apple trees, pear apple trees, wild blueberries, blackberries, red raspberries, etc.

We lived 25miles from Vermont and 30miles from NY, so about as far from Boston as possible without actually leaving the state.

I don't have many pictures but you can see the maple tree in the painting along with the tulip tree that's a bit closer to the house. The smaller tress were MacIntosh apple trees.

The rees were a lot bigger than the artist representation.

Don't forget the Corn Lobby.

It's not just sugar, but the overconsumption of high glycemic carbohydrates that include wheat, corn, rice, oatmeal (old fashioned being the exception), potatoes and most fruits, and a sedentary lifestyle. I eat sugar daily in the form of bakery fresh goodies and walk at least 3.5 miles a day. I also do all my own yard work. At 68 my only drug is a daily light dose of HBP medicine. It's a question of balance.

So… not going to see you in the ‘why I’m on a first name basis with my cardiologist’ thread?

Carbs make up 70% of a person's daily energy needs, so in and of themselves, carbs are not a bad thing. The problem is the type of carbs and the rate at which they're consumed. The sugar cereals represent most of a person's daily requirements in one sitting. They're also devoid of prebiotics and trace elements, most of the nutritional content comes from the milk itself. Fresh fruit is a bounty of moisture, vitamins and trace minerals , antioxidants and fibre . All good stuff. Also unrefined, minimally processed cereals like kasha, granola and muesli.

Moderation is important, but so is what you put in your mouth. Eating closer to Nature is always the best way.

Working electrician at 66, eat whatever I feel like, don't smoke except weed or drink, don't even take aspirin.

Sometimes it's just the luck of the draw. My older brother lived like me, also an electrician, never smoked and drank only socially, both grew up on the ranch I pictured above and he got throat cancer.

…you never know what you’re gonna get.
BOTH my mom and dad are quite healthy - at 86. I’m only 62 and really messed up. Stuff happens.
