Ya know, those NAD heat sinks (thin and flimsy as they may seem) sure do work for cooling power transistors. All of my NAD gear has the same design as you show and the amps run cool to the touch compared to other extruded aluminum "fin" (heavier material) types. I quite like that function.

I do agree, Nad make some fantastic design choices....Its certainly worth remembering "Never judge a book by its cover" when checking out Nad gear :thmbsp:

It may not be as well put together as my old Technics 3000 series amp/s but IMO the Nad is every bit as enjoyable to listen to ~ Straight wire with gain, what every good amp should be !

Check out the pictures ~ All you get for that extra £2800 is pretty casework ! (All IMO of course)

You don't have to use McIntosh-style heat sinks for plenty of cooling. Hell, take a look inside a Yamaha receiver.
 
I find myself coming back to look at this thread from time to time. It really is audio porn (just without the shame and guilt).

Please don't take this the wrong way because that is really nice Pete... But that is the worst soldering I have EVER seen in my entire life. If you ever have any issues, I would certainly look for a bad joint first. Or if you have the skills, touch up the ones that are really bad just to be safe...
