Ordered some JBL Studio 530s thisafternoon....

Know that Walmart has products made just for them that are cheapened without the general public even knowing about this. Sometimes the only way to differentiate this is a label on the box.

From Sound & Vision regarding the Samsung:

There are two ranges of Vizio M-Series Quantum sets. The 65-inch M658-G1 reviewed here (also available in smaller sizes) is spec'd for 90 local dimming zones. But another M-Series Quantum model, the M657-G0, about $200 cheaper in the same size and available only at Walmart, is spec'd for just 20 zones. That's a significant difference, so be sure to check what you're getting. (The M658-G1 model number appears only in tiny print on the back of the set and on the shipping container.)

Since it's sold from the JBL store through Walmart, I have to assume they just reserve a certain number of units for Walmart to sell.

I received a shipping confirmation from Wal Mart stating the delivery by Dec. 24th! I did notice on the invoice the Qty is 1. Hoping that means 1 pair!

Great to hear you guys got shipping confirmation!

You should be good as they come as a pair in a single box.

Now I need to decide if I need another set (again) from Walmart. Instead I might pull the trigger on the 580's from JBL (excellent price) and the matching center from Walmart for the TV room. Hmm.

I didn't post pics of the amplifiers or the 5th system all are underneath the countertops. There is also another rack filled with tables by the window. This is the vinyl and FM room, also were my computer is. I'll post some more tomorrow. BTW, they are all hooked up and are paired into different systems. One is vinyl only with 4 tables connected to it, the other 3 are FM only systems, one SS based, the other tube based. One system is a 3 channel system built around my Marantz 3300 preamp (with center channel tap). 3 channel is very fun (room filling stereo).
It's a very impressive collection you have there! :)

Not having that sort of space, I have been toying with the idea of adding a near field system in a upper balcony, and am thinking about floor space differences between 530's on stands or 580's on the floor as space is limited. 590's are just too big and out of the question in this house unless they unseated my main living room rig..

Just got the center last week, great speaker, goes nicely with the system.

Didn't pull the trigger - but JBL site went back on sale today. Just grabbed the 550 sub for my 530's.

Hey Now,

After living with the 590s for a while, thought I would try out the 530s for my small listening room. Ordered them from Walmart on Friday night, gonna be here Tuesday. I really am enjoying that compression driver and bi-radial horn. Gonna try them out with my ILMs (In Line Maraschino) amps.

Going back and forth on buying these little 530s ever since my 590s arrived last year. My wife said "if they are on sale, why don't you just buy them?" so I did this morning. But, now I'm wondering what she just bought that I don't know about, to make her say that...???

Maybe she is a good wife (I'm sure she is) and she wants you to be happy. I want you to be happy. Everyone should be happy!

My wife has let me buy 23 pairs of speakers...oops, now its 24............what a great partner!

I'm quoting my post from yesterday for the time stamp 3:26PM. Well it is 2:52 PM today and I have already un-boxed the little guys and have them next to my computer monitor as I type. Less than 24 hours. I need to go right now, so I wont be able to hook them up to listen until tonight.

I have my 530s now hooked up as computer monitor speakers for my new iMac 27" computer. What an over-the-top setup, it literally blows me away. For Analog/Digital conversion I'm using an old Firestudio MOBILE pro-audio type that I had laying around. It is pretty small (about the size of an external hard drive) and it gets its power through the FIreWire cable. For amplification I wanted some little micro amp, but I dusted off an old Pioneer sa-6700 and it sounds fantastic. Other than the amplifier has more cubic inch volume than the entire computer, it is great for now.

Computer technology seems to be improving with each new computer I get, so one curious experiment I want to try is to hook the amplifier right to the mini-headphone jack on the back of the computer to see how good or bad that output is.

Apple site only indicates:
3.5 mm headphone jack
Plug in stereo headphones to experience high-quality sound while watching movies or listening to your favorite music.
And my computer information screen only shows :
Intel High Definition Audio, Sample Rate 44100, 2 channel.

I really wanted to like these 530's. And the 50% off was great. But...I don't. And I am a huge JBL fan.

I'm going to chalk it up to not a good fit to my system. I've emailed JBL for an RMA.

Oh well. Never know if you never try.

Say Jeff, sorry to hear that the 530 didn't work out for you. Speakers are the most subjective of all the audio gear it seems! But often it can be in the setup, room etc. Could you tell a bit more about your setup? Music? What you did not like about them.. I don't have any JBL 5xx, but am curious about the 530 for a small room I have.. Thx
