Orsefon C22 (McIntosh C-22 circuit copy)

Ok, so apart from being ripoff, tasteless and ethically unacceptable, how this C22 actually sounds?

First , this isn't a criticism of any kind. I've dug into rabbit holes with parts and time that far exceed any reasonable result or return. That said, my question is directed at Cohiba Joe ( if he's still following) , if you've kept track of price of parts ( controls, op amps, caps, tubes ....) and whatever else you've invested in this. I tend to doubt you have a clue how much time you've spent ( i couldn't tell you how time ive spent on anything I've worked on if you asked me the day i was done) on mods, evaluation. Do you really save much compared to a Mc preamp in the first place?

Having said all that, assuming the phono stages worked properly, If you didn't compare it to an authentic C22, rather just as a preamp purchased at the same price point as other new preamps, is it a good value?
I am referring to an unmodified version

I just received a new Orsofon C22. It is DOA. I ordered a 115 Volt version and got it with a 230 Volt power cord with a US adaptor on it. When plugged it in initially the front panel lights up but nothing else works. Took off the top and the internal power switch was set to 230 Volts. When I changed it to 115 Volts the front panel no longer lights up and it is even more dead. The tubes do not power up at either voltage setting. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to do next? Thanks.

I will check on the prices for the upgrades on the Pre-Amp, which I need to add $73.97 for Glasshouse Remote Control kit, TKD 2CP2511MC 100K Motorized Volume $44.50.

I think that this post ^ just about says it all.

My McIntosh C22, purchased new from an authorized McIntosh brick-and-mortar American dealer in 2016, has had absolutely no issues. (It even lit up, functioned correctly, and came with the right power cord.) Go, figure. But maybe it cost a little more than this ^ version. IDK.

hello gentlemen, no one is answering, does this amplifier sound similar enough to the real c22?
I also ordered this clone, while I'm waiting for the shipment, I had to listen to the old c22, I must admit I really liked the sound, since then I've been looking for a similar sound.

Haven’t heard the copy. But I’ve heard the original and own the C22 MK IV. If anything, I’d imagine the Orsofon’s sound signature would be closer to that of the reissues than to that of the vintage original. But I wouldn’t bet on either.

I've only heard the old c22, great sound, I hope this clone will make friends with my mc2120....

It appears the new Burson V7 is not compatible in spite of being listed as a drop-in replacement for NE5532. New V7s in all positions except MC stage resulted in weak and heavily distorted output across all channels. Running with nothing installed in the MM channel or stock units brought output level up to normal, but faint distortion remained. Plenty of swapping pieces around checking installation was done. I initially thought I had a bum OpAmp. It appears this amp doesn't like the V7. Things sound great with the new cap and the stock OpAmps

hello i order amcn224 caps from italy,axiomedia shop, but then they comes under this red sticker i saw this,or its real capacitors or fake? i prepare its real ,

anyway, I wrote to the manufacturer, directly in Japan, and he confirmed that it is an official distributor, and the capacitors are also original

2026 year, I bought a new model, it is exactly the same, only the transformer is installed not horizontally but vertically, and the blue capacitors were previously wima and now rifa phe 426 0.22uf 4 units.
I changed to Japanese amtrans at once, I will give it time to warm up, and I will change the Chinese tubes to old telefunken tubes.
