I don't share the poster's view or support the comments but the significant difference with the Cobra example is that Shelby is not currently producing that car. The Cobra replica is not a cheaper knockoff of an existing, current product with the only legitimate advantage being cheaper price due to using cheaper labor. The Orsefon products are.
Whether it's in "poor taste" to make that purchase decision for that reason is a matter of one's personal integrity and ethics, and is certainly a matter of opinion.

You are absolutely correct. Ethically and esthetically there is no difference between a cloned Shelby Cobra, cloned MC275 and a cloned Louis Vuitton bag. They are made to pretend what they are actually not. That is a very definition of kitsch.So, the Shelby Cobra replicas are beyond bad taste?

This time i have running some kind of dual op-amp OPA828:

There is no ringing, no problem with power supply. The phono-section is not in use at my place. i took some 7025 tubes from electro home for completition.
Sounds very well.

I am in for a C22 too. I wonder if you spot any fake caps that need to replace in the C22 "2023 version" ?
Ofcorse i will replace some film caps to a better caps but i wonder if we need to replace the rest of caps?

I replaced the Green caps as they measured +25-35+%. I also replaced the WIMA films.

As i waiting my C22 arrive. I want to order caps and parts so i can replace it right after i got the C22. Can you tell me the specs of its? As i read the topic just have specs of :
4 x 1uf 630v + 2 x 0.22uf 630v
Schaffner AC Power EMI/RFI Filter
Balance Switch : Bourns Audio Pot 100k
Alps 100K Blue Velvet RK27
So i need spec of the rest of caps that you replace.
About the BV RK27, why didn't you want remote version of it? They have a RK27 with motor so we can still use remote.

My Orsefon C22 arrived!
The main reason i want the pre-amp because of the tone control. I need to adjust bass and treble depend on my hobby of music.
It look like in this "newest" version they change the components again, back to Wima film instead of green Vishay. And some another minor change in caps too.

Those WIMA films in my C22 were FAKE as with MC275. Either replace with Real WIMA or better yet, Amtrans Film Capacitor AMCN Series.
Do you own a Tube Tester?

I'v never seen a real WIMA before so i don't know if the wima in my clone C22 and MC275 are real or fake. But i am doing re-cap almost all of the caps in my C22. Because in my clone C275, after a re-cap, it sound alot better, like an high end amplifier. I will replace caps in C22 with Mundoft because we don't have Amtrans here (Vietnam). It take alot of time if i buy it oversea.
I don't have tube tester. But the shop that i bought Mullard and Telefunken tubes have, they test all the tubes before give me.
By the way, you should try a new 2024 Black version of Shungang 12AX7, 12AT7 tubes. The shop in China said it carbon coating and have 5000 hours life time and have sweet sound like a 300B. I already ordered 9 of it, 2 12AX7 for C22 and 7 for MC275. I will report back the quality after reaceive it.
I am using these in my phono stage. Pretty nice sounding tube. and so far have no ELFs with them.
if you are going to all that work to replace the caps you may want to consider something like the Jupiter vintage tone caps. they have a very similar sonic signature to the original bumble bee caps used in the orig MACs.
If you have the budget you could consider the Miflex copper foil caps or the jupiter copper foil caps.

I received the Shuguang 2AX7-TA and 12AT7-TA today. It turned out that those tubes have very bad quality control. 4 out of 9 tubes was dead or near dead.
I have to send back 4 of it tomorrow.

Was the same with the stock Orsefon tubes, crap and I was sent replacements only to use for burning in gear. Nothing custom about just the name printed.

Yes, their Shugaung Quad match black treasure KT88-T also not match and have one very weak. I did not test the stock Orsefon tubes because i not gonna use it anyway.
Next time i gonna go with russia tube for better quality control.

I tried to find Jupiter or even Jensen in my country but no hope. So i go with Mundoft again for easier buy caps.
Mundoft caps are too big, very difficult to put it in the pcb.
