Overrated Albums

Being a Kiss fan it's good to know they were never overrated:thmbsp: except by Gene Simmons; he thinks they're the heavy metal version of the Beatles...

Elvis Presley. Aside from his very early work anyway. The rest is shlock rock or Vegas style lounge music. I guess some of his Gospel albums are supposed to be good but I haven't heard them.

Since this thread is mostly about who we don't like or who we are sick of hearing I'll add a few of those.

Neil Diamond
Celine Dion
Kiss
Bee Gees

I could go on but since those just popped into my head I'll leave well enough alone. That list will upset enough people as is. :yes:

That's like most artists. Their early work is the best and if they are around long enough, they slide into mediocrity. The Stones fit into this category and the Beatles were heading towards it before they broke up.

In Presley's case, too much of his later music was from his movies where Col. Parker would not pay for the best composers. Though, Elvis still put out some gems now and then.

As per the Rolling Stones and the mighty Led Zeppelin, two of my favs ever, both became overrated after "Exile" and "Houses of the Holy" respectively IMO.
Two other favorites like Nirvana and Pearl Jam were one hit wonders.
"New stuff" doesn't seem to qualify anymore to even deem a loss of an over rating
