Apparently Mr. Heselden was the present owner of the company but not the inventor of the Segway. The inventor, Dean Kamen, is a brilliant inventor and businessman that made his fortune as the inventor of an IV pump and other medical devices. He is also a humanitarian. I saw a story about him a few years ago about his quest to develop an inexpensive water purification system that runs on a Sterling engine (any external heat source) so that it could be widely used in third world countries.
