The AT SS335E?

I recommended it because it’s a very good p-mount, NOS, comes with a new NOS stylus, and it is very easy to upgrade with current AT styli, ML, or nude ellipticals.

You are very limited using the 3482 type carts for original styli. I have 3 of them; been there. Try to find a nude for one.

With a genuine stylus, a cartridge I really like very well, in either T4p mount or 1/2" mount. I recommend the Ortofon OMP line.

Your comment might have been well-meant, but you need to consider in the context of this thread, that the SL-J1, -J2 and -J3 belong to the somewhat problematic models in terms of needle width due to the little outrigger for track detection next to the tonearm - a problem you of course don't have on your radial-tracking model.

What about The Nagaoka C-502M/P ?????

I have the Nagaoka MP110 on another technics turntable and it was an awesome bang for buck situation. Love the sound.

How do you think this model, the C-502M/P would fare on any Technics linear tracker?

Looks like a rebranded p mount version of the old Sanyo MG29 . A basic conical. WAY overpriced from what I am seeing.

Dang you don't have much enthusiasm about many carts do ya.

Even most of the carts other's here are recommending.

I mean, consider my budget is 100 or below.

Someone linked me to the AT311EP, what are your thoughts on THAT one? And on another Cart subject, what are your thoughts on the Nagaoka MP110? I think it's excellent, is it overpriced too?

Actually it does.

Because if you have knowledge and experience then you have a history with price to quality ratio, so if I am sensing lack of or low enthusiasm I would probably say it's due to your Bang for buck experience.

That said, if you were to tell me right now, based on all YOUR experience and, of all the carts I have been recommended for THIS table, which would it be?

Remember my budget is 100 or less USD.

I never owned any Nagaoka product, so I can't really comment. All I know is people seem to like them.

Most of the cartridges you are looking at are good. I think you are way overthinking it and will probably be happy with any of them. Nobody can tell you exactly which one to buy. You need to decide.

To be absolutely honest, I would just put a new elliptical stylus on your original Technics cartridge and call it good. It is a very good cartridge, and cartridge bodies don't really wear out or degrade, unless they just drop a channel completely.

Anything new for less than $100 is probably just going to be a sideways move, if that. A new AT might have a slightly different sound signature (brighter, probably), but it's not going to be a night and day difference.

Again, only you can decide how you want to spend your money.

I agree with this. OP, sub 100 range you won't find a whole lot of differentiation quite honestly. Just speaking *very* generally, IME, Orto's have a little more detail, AT's have little more body and low-end, and Grados are somewhere between. (I too have never owned a Nagaoka, but have also mostly heard praise.) But yeah, night and day difference isn't something you're likely to experience until you leave the budget range and install a cart (or replacement stylus) from a higher tier - sad but true (and understandable). And also, in the end it'll be your ear that has to like the sound coming out of whatever cart you land with, so someone else's sweet sound may be your bitter pill. :) Only way to find out is try them sorry to say. We've all been there.

b) at that price they're still well worth it; to my ears they deliver sound that is normally twice that price.

Well the Pandemic has other plans for me right now. Thus my budget. I might be able to go like 30 bucks over max. How much is the cart you're recommending?

I can go slightly above, like 130 USD.

Any recommendations for the sake of simplicity?
