Panasonic rs-838s manual?

Hi everyone. I'm looking for a service or owner's manual for the panasonic rs-838s portable 8 track recorder, does anyone here have a copy of such a manual? Thanks.

Good luck, I don't see any in my sources. Neat portable, I have that one or one very close, it took awhile to change the belts, you have to remove a million screws but it was doable. Make sure you clean all the sliding metal surfaces and re-lube them.

I don't plan on servicing it, I just want to know its frequency response.

It's rare that manufacturers post specs for their boom boxes, even the better ones.

Stand alone 8 Track decks of good quality might be 40-15khz, +\- 3 db, at best. A better boom box, a bit less, perhaps to 12khz.

One of the best Akai decks, the CR81D, lists Frequency Response: 50Hz to 16kHz. Expect less with the Panasonic unit you have noted.

I bought the manual. It states the approximate frequency response during playback, but it doesn't mention recording frequency response anywhere.

Manufacturers normally specify playback frequency response, not record frequency response since the adjustments made to the recording and playback circuits during calibration have the objective of obtaining the flattest playback frequency response over the widest frequency range possible.
