Please take a moment today to remember the men and women that lost their lives in defense of our country on this day 70 years ago.

Agreed, thanks for posting. The Arizona Memorial is the most humbling place that I've ever visited.

yes, and some recently deceased survivors are having their ashes placed inside the Utah or Arizona to rest with their shipmates...

I wasnt even born yet of course, but I never forget what happened that day and many others. My dad had coworkers that survived the Bataan death marches and so on, so I am a bit bitter about certain countries.:nono:

I still have a "Remember Pearl Harbor" desk plaque that one of my grandfather's friends made for him during the war. It's hard to believe that it's been 70 years.

Last time I went to Hawaii I visited the Arizona. Lot of vet's hanging around talking about it... Very sad day...

Wow....70 yrs ago...Don't seem possible. People were still talkin' about this like it was ystrday when I was a kid...

God bless 'em all!
I, too, wasn't born yet.
I know a local from my town of <3000 people was killed on the relatively lightly hit battleship Pennsylvania. Another local, who just passed a few years ago, and in the Army at Schofield Barracks, was on his way to pick him up that fateful Sunday morning. They were going to church...
My Dad kept a copy of the Dec. 8, 1941 Detroit News (He was working at Briggs Aircraft). It now hangs framed in my basement rec. room. My Dad and 2 brothers joined the Marines less than a month later.

My father joined the Marine Corps in 1939, and was aboard the USS West Virginia at Pearl Harbor, then all through the Pacific during the war, and in China after the war.
