Photobucket giving it's users the $$$haft! No more image linking unless you pay!

I was just visiting the 1959-1965 Console sticky over in the Fisher forum...that beautiful thread with its wonderful illustrated history of Fisher consoles is RUINED!! Just rows and rows of that PhotoFuckit notice telling you to upgrade your account to allow 3rd party hosting. We'll probably never get those pics back, and I imagine the same thing is happening all over this site. Damn shame! :(
 
Yep, all of my images of records I posted in Barter Town last night just disappeared.

I got the dreaded email today and first thing is this gawd awful FB banner that trashed my signatures by adding that "upgrade in order to host my pictures". Sorry they couldn't make it work,but hundreds a year? Not! I'm done. .
 
Yup. Got my email this morning, too. Buh-bye Photo-whatsyour name.

The ads and slow behavior over the past years have been BS. It was WAY time to leave before this.

I've got every photo I've ever uploaded to Bloato-f*cket. So, as I go through AK during the normal course of business and discover any missing photos/broken links I'll download the photos directly to AK.

The only reason I did PB was so I could post online, I would down load my photos to the computer and then upload to PB.

Since the site changes it's even easier just to grab images from my files and drag-n-drop into a post.

Everyone should just delete their accounts, they'll get the message.

Yep for over two years they have been a spam house. I would alway get I needed to up grade because I didn't have the storage space. I would delete images and folders and still get the same mesage.

I also noticed that in a couple folders I had quadruple copies of all the images, I didn't do that, they did.

Last night I deleted all of those and around half of my files. Today I got a message that I need to upgrade my storage because I don't have room. Come-on I had room enough yesterday.

I also got my notice about sharing today, I think I'm just going to delete it as I should have every photo. The only problem I can see is I'v done other members avatars, and one of them has died around a year ago.

I wonder why avatars are not dissipating.

Yeah, I had an account for about 9 years and was using 90Mb, or about 4% of my limit.

Not a problem. I just hit the Delete Account button.

Check your expiration date in your PB profile. At that point you will have to fork over $399 per year for third party linking otherwise your images will disappear from the sites you post on. I was also a paying subscriber and my expiration date is July 11th. I cancelled my subscription the other day in case they automatically drew the upgrade price of $399 from my Paypal account instead of the $30 or whatever it was.

I wonder if this is a pump & dump. People attempting to contact PB are not getting a response. So you pay the $400 and at a time they determine once the new owners accumulated enough cash just shut it down completely. I'd be skeptical of forking over any amount to a company that is doing this.

Avatars are copied from your computer directly.
They are going to loose a lot of users doing this. I'm sure hundreds of thousands have been screwed loosing posted images in the hundreds of forums out there.
