Pics of your listening space

Very cool 3BX proto... what's the back story on that piece?

John

The latest rotation in the bedroom system; this has an interesting horizontal slider motif:

Yamaha CR-1000 (recently recapped, etc)
Kyocera DA-310cx CDP (with Burr Brown op amps)
Pioneer PL-707 TT w/ NOS Shure M91ED
dbx 3bx - factory prototype w/individual band controls / recapped
Running with Polk Monitor 10a speakers (recapped this past weekend)

Definitely looks off and by more than 1/8". That arm should be well above the record plane. And it looks like cartridge is tilted dramatically front to back - ass end down.

Probably enhances bass but geometry looks way off. Looks like the arm mounting needs to be raised substantially. And should reward you with much better performance.

Here is photo taken last night while in use. It is improved but i think still angled a little.

thanks for the support and suggestions.

Raise that arm!!!

And re-dress your cart wires so they are not draggin on the record (that can cause some fun things).

Wow, you moved out some stuff. How are you going to set it up this time?

Thanks,
John.:music::D

Well everything but the Crown R2R and video rack is wired up for playback. That Denon pre is a godsend....it does almost everything I want. Crown isn't wired up because it doesn't work. Haven't wired up the video rack yet, I'll probably do that tonight.

Hopefully soon I will have a Sony APR-5002, but I'm not sure where I'll put it....might get a Henry Matchbox or Tascam bal/unbal converter and run some long XLR's around the room to over by my bed. The unused R2R decks can go in the closet (haaaa right) or downstairs if I really need to recover that space for something.

I blame my cell phone I can not get stead angles for shots. The wires are not touching but I will look into raising the arm.

Thanks for the help.

Good space, nice lighting, big windows...tons of room for the forthcoming vinyl collection, a fresh set of Infinity 4b's and a TT. Now if I could only find a free photo stitching program for Mac that didn't put *%$ing watermarks all over my pics...

Dude! CF-150's with Spec gear. Nice. I miss my CF-150's for their insanity. 98db/w/m so anything could run them loud. :thmbsp:

Thanky, but they're actually CF-120's (though they are flippin' huge). Holding them for a friend, though I'll honestly say that I really prefer the Polk RT12's. They just have a much more rounded, warm and a rich feel to the sound that works well with my listening habits and music tastes; the JBL's are a bit more forward and detailed, but end up just hurting my head after ~30 minutes.

And the Spec stuff is just sitting there for now: the amp started tweaking out on me recently and I just figured I'd keep it off until I had it recapped and brought back to its glory days. The backup (behind the computer) is a Yamaha P2250 laced up to a Maverick D1. I can't really complain; lots of clean power with a tube in there somewhere...works great for Bela Fleck, Natalie Cole, Freddie Hubbard and the like

That is a really cool space, and a really nice photo, even with the watermarks. Is it a house or an apartment?

Ah, nice. I ran CF-150's (you think the 120's are big) for a long time. Got them for $100 and for that price they were awsome. I upgraded to Vandersteen 2Ci's when I blew a tweeter in one and appart from missing the rock ability of the JBL's havn't looked back.
