Picture from your listening spot right now!

Listening to John Handy - "Hard Work", even though I've been retired for 15 years now.

With my McIntosh going in for service I decided to have some fun and pull my my old Rogue Audio Sphinx V2 and my Magnepan LRS+ speakers for a bit. What a fun combo. I need to find room for this set up on the main floor once the Mc is back.

Nice view! BTW, is the ceiling with ceiling tiles? How effective is that with room reflection?

Sadly not, it was custom built for me. I tried to persuade the guy who did it to build me a cabinet for the speaker in the centre of the first picture., but he didn't feel up to the task, particularly as I want to have a transmission line enclosure made for it. I've contacted a few other people about it, with nothing positive so far. Sadly my woodworking skills are lacking when it comes to this sort of work and I don't have a woodworking shop. The plan is to get a cabinet made that fits at the top of the dead space underneath the work top. There's quite a bit of volume available (37 x 15 x 12 inches) so it should be do able.

Out in the 86f garage with the La Scalas as the wife is reading. The Hitachi VFET amp (think space heater) idles at 136f in this heat so it gets a floor blower too and is running at 112f. Sounds just like tubes and runs hot like tubes.

Which Emotiva pre-amp do you have there? I had a USP-1 and matching UPA-1 power amp for a time, now my son owns them. The USP-1 has a really good system for subwoofer control.

Ken, it’s the USP-1, I really like it - very neutral, all analog signal processing (IIRC). The companion pair of XPA-1L monoblocks have been given to my nephews.

I've been searching for a second, matching UPA-1 for my son's system for a couple years, nothing so far except one that needs repair because it goes right into protection mode.

He's got a restored pair of KEF Reference 104/2 that I gave him, which are kind of power hungry.

Seems they're a scarce as hens teeth! ;)
