Well the good Doc said he did not want the console and PM me and asked if I wanted to contact the seller. Seeing that I was close to Cleveland. So I did and he said he would sell it for $50, (Doc had allready Haggled the price down). I contacted the guy who had the Sams folder on Epay and he told me that it had 6GW8 tubes in it so I just assumed it would be push pull.
It turns out the console was in Canton so now its about 2 hours from my place and its snowing and blowing outside and just to top it off it was only about 7 degrees outside.
I drove to guys house and he tells me it is at his Mothers house which was 5 more miles. Well that 5 five miles turned out to be about 10. Then when I get there I looked at the console and its only a single ended 6GW8 and the transformers were kind of small, about like you would see in a Zeinth or Magnavox console pull. Of course he just had to turn it on and show me that it worked. OOCH no variac. Well I did see something that made my day there was a Pilot MPX adapter in the cabinet so I bought the console pretty much just for that. Seeing how I was a little dissapointed about my purchase I just kind of threw the console in the back of the truck.
When I got home a friend of mine said lets have a listen before I stripped the console. We did and it sounded pretty decent on FM but the MPX unit did not work so I plugged a cheap CD player in where the MPX was. this is its only AUX it had. Holy Smokes this thing sounds excellent. I could not believe what I was hearing. This little pilot will give my Fiher 400 or my Scott 340B a run for their money. Granted It does not have near the power but this thing sounds so sweet. I don't know if its because its single ended or if its the tube rectifer or what but I sure do like it
Now I don't know if I have the heart to strip it or not. I know that I will have to recap it and give it a general servicing. I was only using the speakers that were in the console which the tweeters were Jensen specials not sure what the woofers were but I'm guessing they are also Jensens. I can't believe what an ass I was just throwing the console in the truck and putting some nasty scratches in it.
I learned a valuable lesson here. NEVER JUDGE A CONSOLE BY THE COVER.

I will try to post some pics later.
OH I FORGOT THANKS DOC
