Last night I was half way through a record when the tonearm lifted ,went back to the rest and the table shut off. It did this twice. Any ideas?

There is a screw at the tonearm base IIRC that allows you to manage where the arm picks up. However, the culprit is likely the plastic gear that has a tendency to crack to where it doesn't turn properly on the tonearm shaft. I used superglue to fix the crack and make it snug enough to rotate properly. If you remove the bottom and look at the mechanism, you'll figure out how it works.

Another option is to 'weld' that cracked plastic back together using a small soldering iron. I did mine that way more than three years ago, and it's still holding.

I looked into the table and found nothing cracked or broken. I think it may be a lube issue. For now I removed the large gear making it manual. I will go back in during the winter. Cheers
