Pioneer PL-61 arm disassembly?

Meant to add for those who are adventurous enough to take on this repair, I was able to disassemble the threadlocked part of the tonearm without a strap wrench and without marking or scratching up any surface using some Robogrip pliers with rubber jaw covers. A little acetone applied for a couple days helped too.

These jaw covers seem like a very good option to use on anything decorative or crucially machined.

I hope you were able to get your arm assembled correctly and back in service. I will probably be attempting this repair in the near future. Just wondering if you had any info on where those bearings go, and any other helpful tips. Need all the help I can get. Thanks

So someone has brought me another one of these tables to repair, I get to do this again!

How did it go? I appreciate this is a really old post now, but I need to replace the cam on a friend's one and I can't see how to remove the small metal rod that the cam slides on to. It seems press fitted into the anti skate housing. I need to clean up the bearings too there is a lot of drag causing tracking issues. How the hell do you get this apart?

It turned out good. There's a part on ebay you can buy this now instead of fabricating something yourself.
I don't remember enough to tell you more about how to get it apart than what was detailed in this thread.
