Same answer that cason gave me. No debts at all and I have been happy to be able to help. It has been an interesting experience so far.Fantastic work!
This was not a simple project, many intricate broken parts to replace and/or repair.
Impressive effort and attention to detail to get it working again, now better than new.
James has made the dire mistake of helping another AK member (myself) purchase and ship about 70kg of HiFi gear across the planet so I am now somewhat in debt. Thankfully he is very patient so we are halfway done and still sailing smooth.

I texted my son yesterday and asked him to grab 10 albums at random from the collection and bring them with when he comes over for lunch on Sunday. It is a blessing that my kids all live nearby and still like to come over for family Sunday lunch.

Well, my son grabbed a very random selection of albums. I don't quite feel like Steppenwolf or Blue Öyster Cult on a Sunday evening, but Al Di Meola or Loggins & Messina? OK.

This will be interesting. A direct to disk 1/2 speed master. I see that I paid $15.99 for it back in 1984. I am very curious to compare it to the SACD that I have.

Concerning the Adcom crosscoil cartridge.
I sure wish that my son had not lost the papers for that. My memory is pretty dim concerning the details. I remember that I paid $170 for it in mid 1983 and that it has a nominal tracking weight of 1.7gm. That's about it.
There is very little online info to be found online concerning Adcom carts. And all that I find claim that they made HOMC carts. This is very puzzling to me.
Back then I had a Yamaha C-50/M-50 setup, and I know for sure that I used the MC setting on the C-50. When my son had the TT he was using a Yamaha RX-V1800 AV receiver and it only had MM phono support. The Adcom gave very little output with that amp and my son had to buy a ProJect tube phono buffer.
Now, with my CX-1, if I use MM I can get output, but only with the volume knob set very high, aka 12 o-clock, which would normally be "Police are kicking the door in" levels with a CDP. Using the MC setting the volume tracks very closely with the settings that I normally use with my CDP.
So, I am very skeptical that this is a HOMC cart. I have played 4 albums so far and the sound is very clear clean and sweet.

I do have a basic ultrasonic cleaner, I just have to do some reading on how to rig up a record spinner for it. I am thinking that there are plenty of threads here about that.
I found some reasonably priced Japanese anti-static inner sleeves and German outer covers and just ordered 200 of each. That should get me started.

My good friend morfeora recommended an Audio Technica AT-OC9XSL cartridge. They are a good bit above my original budget but after careful consideration I just ordered one a few minutes ago.
I will post an update after it gets here and I get it installed.
Spring is coming and soon I will be able to do some woodwork out on my balcony and will get started on building some record cabinets.

Is this a cart that Mr. Pig liked? I have not seen him here for a number of years. Or am I misunderstanding the reference?
I am especially interested in how well the Special-line-contact tip works with the linear tracker.
I have read that this cart is sensitive to the horizontal adjustment of the tonearm so I will check that as well as overhang and tracking weight.

Interesting read but disappointing that he never finished testing the XSL.
