Great work! just ordered a couple of ac plugs then. Another thing if you are really desperate to test the amplifier is to use male spade connectors. worked for me and can actually look fairly decent

Get these at Mouser, you just need to take out the center pin. I have them on my SX-727.

Those don't work well, they snap when bent. The Cooper brand work the best I have found. Those look like them but are of lesser quality.

I used the Lowes ones, yes they will break if you twist the blade without the cover on it.

Another way to solve the problem is to change the terminals, it can be easily return to original state. 1 dollar cost.

Don't like those with the solid posts. The type with braided leads work better. Leads like these:

The link is only to show the braided leads, I know nothing about the connector quality.

Just yesterday I was trying to adjust offset on a Pioneer SX-950 but couldn't because the spring loaded speaker jacks kept spitting out my meter leads.

Those braided leads are fine for push connectors. For these speaker jacks you need something solid.

If it were me I'd bury a bad design idea and modify my receiver with this jack plate , they sell them on ebay , they are made to fit the Pioneer as a drop in replacement.

There are plenty of aftermarket plugs that are just not good for the speaker jacks pictured in post #58. Some are made with a twist in one connector but the twist keeps the plug from seating 100%.

Some plugs are way too long. If these are inserted all the way they will separate the contacts inside the receiver causing them to get damaged and split apart. The originals are short.

Some plugs are too damn thick with ends that aren't tapered and end up bending and pushing the receiver connections back inside to where they don't make contact anymore. If one were to look closely at the rear of the receiver they'd see that the contacts are right out near the opening.
