Hmm, well the specs from Pioneer do not show what it puts out at 4 ohm sadly, but it does take the 4 ohm speakers per the manual. As you know the 3700 is not a powerhouse, so at 45wpc in 8, I would only imagine it may get to 50wpc....but this is a guess.

If you look at the manual and spec sheets of the major companies such as Pioneer, Marantz, Sansui they usually show the 4 Ohms output to be approximately 20% higher than the 8 Ohm output. so at 45 WPC you may get as much as an additional 10-15 WPC going by the 8 Ohms figure X 20% and added to the original @ 8Ohms 45 WPC gets you to about 55-60 WPC.

( 20% x 45 = 9 - 10 WPC plus 45 WPC equals about 55 WPC in total)

The above formula seems to be the usual amount of difference from 8 - 4 Ohms output wattage totals.

Some manufacturers have different output figures and it depends on how their amplifiers work but using the 20% factor will get you close to the 4 Ohms output amount or at least very close to the true wattage amount for that resistance of speaker load.

Hope that helps you in your search for an answer.
