It’s hard to ignore the looks factor, for sure. Also the 570 is a quartz lock table. The 55x has that suspension plate (inserted into a plithe) instead of a platter and arm separately sticking out of the plithe with the suspension being in the plithe feet (not sure which is better honestly). When considering sound quality (tonearm length, flutter, rumble, etc) are there major differences? Hmmm
EDIT: Turns out im way wrong on the weight. Comment has been edited for accuracy. Also it seems the 570 has half the WOW and flutter at 0.025% vs 0.05%. The 570 measures rumble at 70dB vs 58dB in the 55x (the lack of a negative dB here confuses the daylights out of me).

The 55X is a very nice table. So is the 570. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. In sheer bulletproofness, the 55 might get the edge -- the 570 has some weak points that will fail eventually. But the 570 has the better arm, and arm height is adjustable. And the 570 has quartz lock and better specs.
You can't go wrong with either one. It's like saying which one is better...a 69 Camaro or a 69 Corvette...wouldn't throw either out of my driveway.

That’s great to hear because the seller just called me to say he dropped the 570 down the stairs, cracking the dust cover and breaking the tonearm. Looks like the universe decided for me.

Pioneer PL 55x, the more reliable of the two for me gets the nod. Simpler to maintain.

Do you think he'd still sell it? Man I'd love to have one to work on and bring back to life. Not sure how I'd manage the 240v conversions but its a table I've lusted over for years!

I tried to get him to show it to me still and sell it to me at a reduced price as it is. I think he was too frustrated and upset and not sure of what to do next. Maybe he’ll call me in the next few days or weeks and offer it to me still. It might make a fun long term project.
