The PL-550 is very nice sounding indeed. I had one for quite a while, and sold it when I got a PL-570. 550 sounds just as good (it's basically the manual version of the 570). Great decks!

I owned a 550 , also owned 2 PL-560 , very nice TTs

Man, I always loved mine. Fantastic sounding, reliable and HUGE

Sounds better then your Thorens? I have had a lot of Thorens tables including a 166 and I love them but I never noticed a difference in sound quality between them and the PL-550. They are both fine pieces of equipment. I use pretty much the same Ortofon and Shure carts on everything

Thank you, I have a Grado Green on my 166 and the AT15S on the 550. I like the sound of the 550 better? IMO.:scratch2: I like B&W pictures..

Love mine. Have a DL-160 on it and it sings, trying a DL-110 on it soon since the DL-160 is more or less history.
