Please ID vintage Pioneer speakers

My son has a line on these and was wondering if anyone could ID them. Thanks ! The amp in the corner is up for grabs also , I think it is an SA-8100

CS E500. The grills should be an off white color. Should say on the back of speakers.

Yes woofers, I believe you are correct. I pulled this image from the web. They belong to one of
my sons co-workers parents. Have any idea if they are worth refoaming ? Couldnt really find any reviews

Yes they are worth refoaming. I had never refoamed a driver until two years ago and it was a tweeter for a Pioneer cs A500 similar to your E500. It was very easy. If you get these and decide to refoam, use a small typy paint brush or a Q -tip as the brush most companies send you with the refoam kit is too big. Their brush would be fine for a woofer but too big for a tweeter. If you have a book of matches you could use the bottom of a match as a brush as well. It should take no longer than 20 min to do both. Just give it a few hous to dry and then install. Just make sure that the foam is set as accurate and straight as can be.

I could not find any "Real" reviews on any Pioneer CS 500s but I can tell you that I love the A 500s I have. For a speaker from the early 70's, they sound clean clear, wonderful open midrange, smooth highs. I had mine recapped with some Audyn capacitors and use them with a tube amplifier and a Marantz SA 8005 cd player. They are quite efficient so they don't need a powerful amp or receiver.
