i snagged this headshell with a recent audio technica cartridge purchase. the 3 empty holes in the middle row go all the way thru. can someone identify its origin? thanks.

it's close, but i don't think that's it. yes, the top of the connector is flattened for a hold down screw, but the (opposite) bottom of the connector comes to a point/ridge which i tried to capture in the photo. total connector length is 11.5mm, but the top flattened area only extends 7-8mm from the base--the bottom point/ridge extends the full 11.5mm.

maybe not, but that will give you the group/type. It's definitely an ADC type. There's probably more than a few generics, after-markets and OEM's for this type of headshell. I've seen it by anyone from Onkyo to LPGear. This site sells "tonar" versions that look pretty close and have dimension specs very much like you mentioned. They are replacements for ADC1600 & ADC1700 headshells.

ADC is correct. I have an ADC 1600 tonearm here (well, most of it at least) and it does have a groove for that "ridge."

you were right from the get go. i did some checking and all the connectors of this sort have a ridge or hump on the bottom regardless of whether it is shown or not in the connector diagram.
