Portland / Vancouver is pretty big too. Anyway you can have them anywhere it's just a matter of who will step up and make it happen. :thmbsp:

So it is odd then that a bunch of people from the Sea-Tac area and a bunch of people from the PDX-Vancouver area might want to meet in the middle somewhere, especially since it is in the town of the person willing to take the time and rent the church to host it?
 
Might be a good thing to have it in Kelso, I mean how often would you go to/be in Kelso if you didn't have a good reason. Helps us big city folk get and see the country for a change.
 
This event allows for a lot of people in the Portland and then south into Salem area an official event to show off gear and listen to a wide variety of tunes on different gear. There are unofficial ones where close friends meet, but this event every year always helps put faces to the names of AKers. It's a decent sized event, but if you want to host one in the seattle area put up a thread and start the replies. You gotta hand it to Arthur though, he creates a really neat event to go to. :thmbsp:
 
Just remember to bring your extension cord. Outlets are scarce, but the hospitality can't be beat! :D
 
Bring a ground lift adaptor just to be sure. Some of the outlets are grounded, others are not.

No. I take that back. Relatively speaking, it is unusual, actually. With megalopolises of millions of people, most of the events I've been involved in meet somewhere fairly central to the particular megalopolis. However, with an area of interest that has a small enough, and dedicated enough following, something between megalopolises makes some sense. It's just unusual. It's sort of like having the event in Kansas so people from all over the country could make it there. Sort of...

Also Moses Lake is a good central place between Seattle and Spokane. ;)

I did not mean to "insult" the event. I just meant to say that, to me, the location seems "odd" based on my body of experience with this sort of thing.

Anybody interested in some record swapping on saturday? I'm sorting through a stack of records I got for free a couple weeks ago right now and have a bunch of other records I was gonna try to sell. Much rather swap em for something new than take the nickels and dimes the stores will probably offer me.
 
One must consider the amount of people coming from each location. It seems more people are coming from portland than seattle, so somewhere between the two that is closer to portland than seattle makes sense.

Ya, what Will said. There are a lot of us down here in the greater Portland, Vancouver, Salem area, (and all parts in-between) that are glad it's held in Kelso. This way we gets to get out and hob knob with you big city folks. :D
It's cool that Art can put this together for all of us.

Bring 'em. I'll probably have a box with me. I'm hoping that MarkW shows up with some records too - I picked up a couple of nice dollar records from his boxes last year, IIRC.
 
Looks like I will not have my amp running in time for this meet, unless I can get it running by some christmas miracle tomorrow evening, but I really doubt it.

Bummer Will. I have been following your build thread and was counting on seeing it in action. Next gathering.
I will bring some vinyl along as well. I agree, it would be good if MarkW would show up. Is anyone interested in old 78's? I have a bunch.

One Ray Coniff actually... and if anybody wants some Nancy Sinatra or Debbie Reynolds, I got you covered. Don't know where these records came from, somebody just gave em to my parents, but whoever it was went through a major nostalgia trip cuz its all near pristine late 80's reprints of 50's and 60's pop. Found a couple gems worth keeping though and the price was right.

Hey Invalid and Art,

I was just up in Albany and Lebanon last weekend doing interviews for the new Osteopathic Medical School in Lebanon. If I had realized you guys were there, I'd have dropped by. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Albany, right fine little town you have there.

Should have figured there's AK'ers everywhere! Hope you guys have a great PNW meet in Kelso and have your own in Corvalis/Albany, the more the merrier. Give the guys in Portland two different directions to meet other Ak'ers ( and a few Lansing Heritage guys in the area too!)

Now you got me thinking of a SoCal meeting to plan!
