I run my Polk 2.3tl's with great sucess with an Adcom GFA555II amp.

Keep in mind that for use of the SDA feature requires an amp with a common ground, or else a special SDA cable with a transformer, that really isn't worth bothering with.

I'd recommend the same receivers that Toze did.

All you want is enough power so that you don't run the risk of losing tweeters due to underpowering. If you're not ready to go into separates that's just fine. But at least buy a receiver with 100 watts or so per channel so that if you ever do decide to go separates, you'll still have a fully functioning pair of SDA's instead of ones that need tweeters.

Separates are fun, especially when you get into tubes and you want to mix and match. Find a pre you like and then you can try different amps and find the best match for the pre and the speakers. I won't be going back to receivers anytime soon, but I don't listen to the radio either. Anyway enjoy your paltry 2nd system, lucky daughter

With smaller SDA designs, probably just fine. With some of the monsters? You'll hear laughter coming out of the speakers during quiet passages.


You can throw 300-400 watts at those things and they won't even blink.

i picked up a pair of sda srs for $600.00 at a yard sale earlier. i liked to really hurt myself getting these beasts home. there 185lbs each dry lol. lmao@You'll hear laughter coming out of the speakers during quiet passages. i have a carver TFM-35X running these now 250 wpc and these take all it"s got and want more. btw does anyone have an interconnect cable that they want to part with? pm me if you do. either combo is fine i need both blade-blade and pin-blade for diffrent sets. Or the like. . .However. . .Why??? If you are going to put out this much money and want those speakers why handcuff them to a receiver that may or may not give you something in return.??

You might run'em on a 1050 (120wpc) but you will run out of gas and you will need to watch more than listen. Not saying to play them at 100+dB either. That big amp power adds a lot at lower levels too. . .

Find yourself an Adcom GFA580/5800 or a 555/555II at a minimum for much less than any of those big receivers would cost. There are tons of big amps out there just waiting. From Acurus to Yamaha (M80/etc.)

OK....I'm a little slow. But I really do understand the concept and I have had the SDAs hooked up to my SX-1050 and a Sansui AU-D11 and a bunch of others. I'm not dangering them by over driving them with the 2015. At least I don't think I am. The only reason the little 2015 is plugged in, is because I was curious and something my daughter could use. The latter is probably a bad reason. All I was saying was it sounded good with 15 wpc.

I'll see if I can try them out with a Marantz 2500, Yamaha CR-3020 or even a bigger amp.
