Poll: LED bulbs for use in home

I switched when they came out with the incandescent looking ones, the temperature, what ever it is.

I think a lot of people still don’t know that they need to buy warm/2700k color temp when they want the incandescent look.

I’ve had several people tell me LED bulbs look awful (they happened to grab “daylight” bulbs of much higher color temp when they bought them, and then are shocked how different they look). Once they’re pointed to 2700k bulbs, they can’t replace their incandescents fast enough!

Yes, and they did look awful till the warm temps came along. They've come a long way with LEDs of all type.

Same here, with the exception of my electronic repair shop`s very infrequently used ceiling mounted 14 dual 40 watt bulb fluorescent fixtures, 2 microwave/convection counter top cooking appliances and the stove`s internal light.
Even use them in the fridge/freezer + even the 24/7/365 illuminated ice/water door dispenser.

Definitely. I love the flexibility of LED color temps and types. Our house had two exterior light fixtures on the far left and far right of the house. It looked weird being dark in the middle, bothered me enough that I had an electrician tunnel through the soffit to add a light in the middle. I expected it to look great, but it was just too bright with standard 2700k warm bulbs (even though they worked fine left and right). I regretted doing it and my wife was not happy because I was trying to surprise her with an improvement, but we both thought it looked worse (and it was fairly expensive to have done).

After that, I replaced all the 2700k outside lights with ultra warm 2200k Edison-style LED's -- then the lighting looked much better than ever before. There would have been no "cure" with incandescents.

Absolutely, the flexibility. Interesting story about the exterior lighting and I think I image the improvement with the warmer light, kind of a nod to fad out from the area, softens it. I tend towards the warmest level too, installed nice fixtures with remote control for all manner of things including temperature which I set near the lowest setting, more relaxing, natural.
