Polydome Repaired

Polydome cleaning

Now, the secret of my lotion is a special mixture. Polydome cleaned on both sides....and it will stay elastic. Look at this picture to compare:

after cleaning:

They look like new. Without any hair dryer ;-).
I recommend this cleaning once in a year.

Best Regards

restoring polydomes

Not sure what the lotion is but I have heard of several stories of people using plastic headlight lens anti yellowing restoration formula's on polydomes with good results. Though I never had the guts to try it. I really don't even like to touch the domes....But yours sure do look good!!!

Much to do today. I have to renew a pair Kappa 8.2i cover frames with new textil...I must wrap two voice coils for "richard allen" 18" pa-woofer and I must finish two cross overs for two self made 5way speaker. That ´s fun.:D

I wonder if this guy in HK could fix fried Walsh tweeters?

Very probably; I'd be surprised if he couldn't. The guy has an encyclopedic knowledge of speaker drivers, and knows every trick in the book for bringing them back to life, and to spec (or better). About the only ones he couldn't repair would be ones with unobtanium parts for which there were no substitutes or work-arounds, and for which making duplicate parts isn't feasible. I'll ask him about the Walshes, next time I see him.

Thanks Arkay. I remember someone else here detailing how they did it with a BA coil if I remember correctly but can't remember all the details.

BTW... when reading this post ALL I can think of is 'Silence of the Lambs' "It puts the lotion on it's skin" "It puts the lotion in the basket".

Willy - I think that's a question only you can answer. I know that when the time comes for me to repair/replace mine, I will not hesitate no matter what the cost. These speakers are too fantastic not to have in good working order when I want to enjoy them!
