Man, some nice stuff out there!!! I really fancy that Nakamichi Dragon unit, that must be one rare piece of equipment!
This is my contribution:
Pioneer PLC-590 with Pioneer PA-5000 tonearm mounted and DL-110 cart:
Pioneer PL-570x plays with Stanton 681EEE:
Last but not least: Pioneer PL-71 with Shure M-91ED:
the PLC-590 is the one I use most btw, It plays very nice with the PA-5000 tonearm which I only found recently, after quite some searching.. It was fitted with A shure series 3 arm first, also nice, but I wanted to make it fully Pioneer Series 20, since that is what the rest of this setup is made of as well..
Presidian (Radio Shack) Brand New Turntable. It will be used on my computer to rip records to my iPod.
My fathers old JVC L-A11 that was handed down to me. It's going to be restored and upgraded. Rubber mat will be replaced, tone arm, platter, and case buffed, stylus replaced, belt replaced, head shell replaced, and sometime in the future, new cartridge. This will be my main player once it's restored.
Here is my Sony PS-3750 manual DD TT, equipped with a Shure V15-Type IV cartridge and VN45MR stylus. I purchased it new in 1977 (cartridge in '78). I recently took my '70s stuff out of retirement after about 20 years (along with a Kenwood KR-9600 receiver and Sony EL-7 Elcaset deck). I'm glad I did!
I'm going to get these for my JVC L-A11.. Headshell first, and once the new stylus I'm already getting wears down, the new cartridge and stylus will be ordered. Any objections?
Here are pics of my old reliable and my recent thrift store find.
The old reliable is a Series 20 PLC-590 turntable and PA-1000 carbon fiber arm. In the 2nd and 3rd photos, the old AT O9 MC cart, vintage 1991, and the dustcover have been removed.
The recent Thrift Store find is a Kenwood KD-5077 turntable with original Kenwood cartridge, all still in good condition. If I keep this table long term, it will get a new cart, probably an AT 440Mla.
The PLC590 and PA-1000 combo has been a rock steady performer over the years and shows no sign of weakness or failure. I bought it as a demonstrator model in 1981, and it came with the little bit of cosmetic damage. I am unsure as to what cartridge to put back on it. I may just default to a new AT OC9/MLII.
Beautiful tables on this thread ,i'm having a blast looking through them. Here's mine, its a Rega p2 with audio technica at-120e cart. I did a few upgrades, added a stainless steel stub and counterweight taken from an rb-300. The platter is a glass one from Rega. I replaced the original feet and put spikes instead. The wooden isolation base was made by a local audiophile , the table sits on a wooden base supported by 4 squash balls, very well way to isolate a turntable!
