Post your Minimus 7 killers here!

I experimented with using my spare pair of white Minimus 7 (4 total) with a small subwoofer to see how they sound together. I did not expect the sound quality to be as good as it was! I would definitely suggest using that pairing if you're dissatisfied with your M7 and have a subwoofer at the ready.

I have white Bose 161 in the kitchen currently, paired with a low-profile active subwoofer behind the refrigerator. I'm not a fan of most Bose generally, but the 161's are pretty decent sounding. I bought them for their small size (height) because I liked the idea of the slight angling of the second driver helping with dispersion in the kitchen.

If I can find a decent Canton S Plus in white -- they'd replace the 161's and be paired with the same active sub.

Minimus 11. I didn't even know these existed until I found three of them in a box last month at goodwill. I tried to pick it up, and I was like whaaaa? Geeze these are heavy! Cast aluminum all around with a nice silver finish that still looks great imho. I mean seriously, they are little anchors. The whole rear panel has a layer of neoprene glued to it. Japanese made parts, Foster/Fostex brand. Good quality crossovers, also with Foster brand parts. The little tweeter even has a circular waveguide! Paper drivers, and just a super smooth midrange and good bass from a sealed cabinet. Great imaging also from these rock solid boxes. The internal driver pics and last two pics are mine.

Very very belated reply... Anyway, they sound pretty good with basically any genre as-is but will benefit with a recap and maybe bypassing the circuit breaker, as well as sealing the bracket threads with replacement screws (two are missing). I haven't actually heard a pair of M7's in-person even to this date, but I did use to have a pair of RCA counterparts (more closely related to M77's) which I never liked that much. I found the tweeters grating for my taste, and the poly woofers just ring in the mids. I eventually sold them after I got the CARponents.

Alas now I have a pair of David's which blow both of them away.
 
The good news is that I was able to find a pair of white Canton Plus S in perfect physical condition for my kitchen. The bad new is that I pretested them with an ohmmeter and one is reading 3.8 ohms as you'd expect, but the other one is an open circuit (infinite ohms). Getting ready to open it up to see what's going on.

Canton Plus S now mounted in the kitchen ... (low profile sub behind the fridge, driven by a Fosi BT20a Pro also mounted behind the fridge). The Cantons are considerably better (and a bit more compact) than the white Bose 161's they replaced. The iPhone video overboosts the bass a bit (at least on my computer audio with sub) -- it sounds really good in real life.

Doesn't say on the back label. I believe the origins to be part of an executive desktop system. Without resorting to flowery terms, I just find them to be better sounding overall. On balance, very nice.

BINGO! I had a pair of those lil' Missions (I believe the M50's) and they sounded SHOCKINGLY good! I should of kept the pair but they were part of a bigger swap/trade. Later, I heard (my very same pair) hooked up with some Tube gear and I was, ugggh, no way! Lovely for such a small pair of Speakers. If memory serves, those lil' Mission Speakers were part of a very small system Denon system.

Just a thought, I am surprised that you never see Realistic Solo-103's or Minimus-1's on the market. Perhaps they all got blown up and delegated to the dumpster?

Though I did not care for them, the Minimus-1 had a nice wood cabinet and grille cloth, Optimus-type cone tweeter and an LRC crossover network. The Solo-103 was a 4" single driver, but had some acclaim in that Popular Mechanics (or similar mag) published a cabinet plan for the FE-103 speaker, which we also sold.

Minimus 7 was sold in enormous quantities into the 90s, those earlier models are a generation older, and probably just scarce due to age and lower original sales.

Yes I bought the pair of Canton Plus S pair in a bundled with 3 Canton Plus X (similar size to Plus S, but slightly rounded enclosure). The Plus S pair looked like new, but when I pretested with an ohmmeter, 1 was reading an open circuit (the other read the expected 3.9 ohms). It turned out to be a bad solder joint at the speaker connectors, which I reflowed with a soldering gun to fix.

One thing I like is that the speaker clips on the Plus S are really well built. Most mini speakers have those crappy red an black spring clips that barely hold the speaker wires and are very prone to breaking. The Canton clips spring loading is so strong that it's almost a pain in the *** to use -- but they really hold the wires tight and the clips are very strong.

I didn't have time to even try listening to the three Canton Plus X speakers, I only pre-tested them with the ohmmeter, all reading 4.2 ohms. I'd imagine they sound somewhat similar to the Plus S since they look like the same drivers. I'm not sure what I'll do with the 3 extra speakers.

You know that we need to see pic of your wood stands for your wood Plus S's

You are spot on with those clips, They have to be the strongest clips ive ever encountered on speakers..

Yeah, those Canton clips are awesome, and definitely an exception to the rule on mini speakers. The Plus X model have (versus the Plus S) have binding posts, which are fine also. I've had so many of those red/black spring clips on the back of mini-speakers (and mini-amps also) break that I can't count and their grip on the wires is weak. I feel like the "death grip" of those Plus S clips are almost more secure than binding posts.
