Nova Scotia on a sunny afternoon

Here's how it looked here in Nova Scotia yesterday:

Looking out over the ocean, and

Looking into my backyard.



These shots were taken with my Canon RebelXT with the standard 18-55mm zoom.

not new, done in the late 80s in Italy (near Cinque Terre, in Framura), on the Beach area beneath the trainstation right on the coast.
You may think its looking in a way irreal - but believe me, no Photoshop except resizing. Photographed with a 35-105 Soligor Zoom, i guess a 3.5, 72mm front... and a Konica FT-1 i guess. On 400 ASA positive film.
The irreal light and colors are caused of an upcoming afternoon thunderstorm, it was getting dark behind me within a few minutes, started raining a few minutes later, the tunnel of the road winding down the mountains tured to a little river....

to compare the colors, not long before on another beach a few 100 meters away quite different, but not easy to handle, too much sun and reflecting water...UV-Terror

Here are 2 old industrial buildings in Bucharest, Romania.
First it belonged "Hermes" food oil plant, later called Unitatea "Biruinţa" ("The Victory" Unit) and later "Solaris" Plant. The plant worked utill few years ago.

This flatlander from Florida did a San Francisco/Yosemite vacation last week. San Fran was fantastic, but Yosemite was unearthly beautiful.

Sorry about the clutter and wires in this shot -- but by the time I looked out the window and saw this typical sunset over the water with low clouds, there was not enough time for me to run down to the beach. Next time.

A 2005 farm shot

Here's a very moody farm shot (Ashburne Farm, Berwick N.S.) done looking into the North Mountain with fog and a light drizzle. Shot with my Canon Digital RebelXT, 1/250 @ f5.66 ISO400 using my Canon 28-105mm zoom at 85mm.

Here is Harbourville N.S. harbour near high tide with the fishing boats getting ready to sail.

and, 7 hours later -- shucks! Who pulled the drain plug in the Bay of Fundy?

Thank you! Most of the animal shots I posted above were with Canon EOS 20D ,Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM. I borrowed the lens from my Dad and loved it. The shot below is another one with the same setup.

Thanks, I am still trying to learn all the features of the digital cameras. I knew my way around 35mm and played around with medium format but digital is kind of new to me. I can see this Canon camera and "L" lenses have some potential. :yes:

I love the freedom of the digital format -- and especially the Canon. Not that those others brands aren't equally good but I switched because my very good friend David is a pro and uses H'blads and Canon digital (yikes -- like 3 bodies as I recall with EOS-1D's as main bodies and a 30D as backup) so I felt quite comfortable switching. I was an Olympus 35mm guy with 4 bodies, 6 lenses and a slew of misc crap. All gone now! :yes: My EOS RebelXT with a 2 Gb card keeps me shooting raw images all day. :thmbsp:
