Post your photography!!

Horsefly wing.

Here's the setup I used. Flashes placed in the rear with small white sheets of paper to reflect light on the front.

Here's a image from a stack I shot with my 10X objective.

With the 20X and 50X objectives I have, I don't feel I'm getting the detail that should be possible. Someone on another forum mentioned that I'm hitting the diffraction limit on my Sony A7R IVa. In the world of macro, high density sensors with small pixels are not the best approach.

I ordered a FLIR/Teledyne industrial camera that are known for being good super macro photography cameras. I'll probably be replacing my focusing rail with a MJKZZ model. Its minimum steps are less than half what the MIOPS Slider+ can do, and I can control it with a hard wired interface to a SBC (Single Board Computer) I'll use for the logic interface between it and the camera.

This will keep me busy.

I've been working on getting a good shot of this dragonfly wing for a few days now. Went through several setups and can't quite get what I want out of it. There are a few complications involving the stacking software having difficulty with the image stacks, but I was able to get a partial image completed. I'll have to look further into the stacking software to see if I can make some config changes to allow the stack to be fully processed.

The wings reflect light based on the angle the light strikes them, which poses a challenge as I'm using really big Metz flashes that aren't quite as easily managed as smaller flashes. I'll keep at it to see if can get the shot I want. The blue can be very bright, which is what I want. The other side of the spectrum is a dull brown which can be seen in the lower right.

I added a backlight flash which is what you see in the orange crevices. I used a 10X objective on a stack of roughly 125 images. If I push the power of the flashes I get too much reflection, even with heavy diffusion.

This is about 25% of the full image, so it's equivalent to about 40x in magnification.
