My advice is get the Technics factory rubber mat, the future value in the table will be in it having all the original OEM factory parts/accessories not aftermarket. As for cork mats or any other material it's probably going to be a case of different, maybe the same but very unlikly better, I'v tried quite a few mats and always ended up returning to the mat that came with the table from the factory. Like any other table it is what it is and all the tweaks, modifications aren't going to significantly change the character/performance of the table, your just going to spend a lot of money to make a very small percentage improvement, like under 5% improvement, really unnoticeable. Much more cost effective to move up to a higher level performing table. I had a couple 1200s, one completely stock and the other with costly upgrades, using the same cartridge I couldn't hear a difference between them.
