The Proacs I've heard have been clear and dynamic, somewhat more analytic than my taste (and than the Time Windows), but attractive nonetheless. But I suspect they are not particularly efficient, so if the tube equipment is not high power, you might not get the full benefit of that dynamism. I'd listen carefully before deciding, since, in my opinion, a pair of Time Windows running on tubes in a small room is a pretty good combination, and not so easy to beat.

larry, i have heard 1.5's, 2.5's, 1sc's, tablette 2000 signatures, & tablette 8 ref signatures. all outstanding, imo. depending on room size, you may be better served by the smaller bookshelves, perhaps used w/subs. and, re: power, i heard the 1sc's and the tablette 8 ref sigs in a 14x22x10 room, driven to more than adequate levels, w/a manley stingray in 25wpc triode mode. i dunno about other "small european speakers", but proacs are known to love tubed amplification. personally, i would go w/tablette ref 8 sigs & subs. i like proac's new tweeter, also used in this model, compared to the older proac tweeters. of course, i am biased - i own a pair. :D

i bought mine from this same seller, a coupla years ago:
